So our best home game next year is what Ball State? I don't know if even the Orange Bowl momentum can save our attendance next year. Big East please, I am ready to move...
Yup...just as I said in post #2
I know its a risk but I am ready if we go to the BigFunkyEast too.

Just wait, I'm sure they will make that a Tuesday night game. If EIU is a night game and we get 2 night games in November, we have the possiblity of having only 2 Saturday home afternoon games, one of which is homecoming. This schedule is getting worse by the minute.

This is very true. If the Kent St game is in week 2 then we have 4 of our 7 away games in the first 5 weeks. That leaves October/November for 2 bye weeks, 3 away games and 4 home games.
We are almost guaranteed a bye week on Nov 2nd.
We could have the Tuesday night ESPN2 game the week of Thanksgiving since we can not host the game on Friday/Saturday because of the IHSA.

RE: 2013 Schedule
Was reading a Power Conference preseason ranking on ESPN and they had Iowa and Purdue listed as the #10 and #11 teams of the Big Ten, only in front of Illness. Both games are very winnable, we should be favored, but playing away is tough...

If everyone is healthy we don't lose at home next year, take that to the bank. Ball State is good, we are better at home.

Only 5 home games after their historic season. To top it off we'll get rewarded with one of them being a Thursday in November, and Toledo being one on the road.
Hopefully Kent will be a weekend game, the same weekend Bears play @ Browns.

This is kinda depressing, especially after an Orange Bowl appearance....any hope for decent home game attendance? I may have to travel up for that opening Iowa game

To be fair this schedule of OOC opponents was set before kickoff of the 2011 season.

For 2013 NIU football would get better home attendance if they didn't announce who the opponent was.
No matter what my family and I will be there and we will be getting one additional season ticket for a guest.

That's really the attitude that 20K+ people have to have.
The sign of a strong Program is one where Fans pack the stadium every game to see THEIR TEAM no matter the opponent!

Not blaming the scheduling, but bad timing. Coming off OB, this is the year you would want 1st game at home, at lead at SF. A loss at Iowa could mean thousands less. SF would have had a spike. Team could be 2-2 by 2nd home game to have novelty wear off to casual fan.
Btw, I sent a letter to about 15 alumni asking them to support a home football game. Explained they are fun, relatively cheap (some $8 for food drive) they could show family their school.
The responses: single guy loved it and was going to forward and only other will go when "hunting season is over" manning Nov, when last year it was too cold for his kids and a school night.
I fear this OB appearance was a fad for too many brought down by a loss and NIU is still only the bridge from point B to C in their life and always will be.

That is exactly what all of us need to do. Ask family and friends to come out and enjoy the day with you. We all saw what the power of word of mouth just from this board can do with how awesome lot 10 was at the OB. Put that to use!

Compher said. "Now we need to continue to grow the support for this team. To all the NIU fans who had a great time cheering on the Huskies and showing their school spirit in Miami, we need you in Huskie Stadium in 2013. Building the fan base and increasing attendance at our home games is the next step in sustaining our success."

Every time he says this he is right, but the same goes for him, to continue to grow, he has to step up the non-conf schedule if NIU football is to be taken seriously. One home non-conf date vs FCS is not a legit FBS program. If he schedules like an FBS school, attendance will follow.
