What a trip!
We JUST got home last night about 9:30....exhausted but so glad we made the trip. I had a few of my own thoughts & some personal experiences etc. I wanted to share so I hope nobody minds.

We had never been as far south as Ft. Lauderdale, so that itself was a lot of fun. Palm trees, coconut trees & flowers & bushes etc. blooming in Dec./Jan? Wow!

We spent Dec. 31st afternoon at Dania Beach Pier. All of us got into the ocean and enjoyed playing in the huge waves. After that, we had lunch at the restaurant on the pier where the mayor of Dania Beach (who owns the restaurant) personally welcomed us & thanked us for coming & wished our team a win. He was a Gator BTW.

Everywhere we went people were very nice and TONS wished us good luck.

Lot 10 with so many Huskie fans and board members all in one spot was super cool.
HuskieBob was able to make so many of us feel welcome & part of the group. Thanks so much for allowing us to join you and the group in tailgating & with our tickets! 04-bow

We "found" Mr. William Baltimore outside of the stadium & brought he and his group to lot 10 to join us. His son is redshirt freshman DE Matthew Baltimore. Dad & group made the trip from KC. Nice nice people and he was happy to be a part of Huskie Nation and plans on making as many games as possible.

We left Ft. Lauderdale on 1/2 for a flight thru Atlanta. We were lucky to see Mrs. & Coach Joe in the airport...they were on our flight. We were able to chat a bit and Coach Joe told me that GW is considering coming back to NIU for grad school. Coach thinks the football team would be lucky & happy to put GW to work helping out.

Everywhere we went ...on planes, in restaurants on the way home, in the airports...people talked to us about NIU. It was a very heady experience.

Despite the loss, I will never regret making that trip. Our team must hold their heads high. What an OUTSTANDING season...NIU HISTORY!!! And the exposure for NIU is priceless. I mean PRICELESS. People who never knew we existed...now know about NIU Huskies.

I am looking forward to our future. GO HUSKIES!!! 04-rock

I think the next team that chants we should incessantly bark and howl... hmmm maybe we should just do that in general, it could be our "thing."

glad you had a great time!

But they can spell Florida AND State.

Then they're either excited they could do it (Woo!) or relieved they don't have to spell more (whew!). I could never tell which.

RE: What a trip!
So no comments on the news of Garrett Wolfe perhaps coming back to NIU for school?

We NEED somebody to teach our RBs...who better than GW if it were to come to be?

Is it NIUCheerDad that brings Diesel? We should all thank him again for doing that. Diesel is a rock star, I can't count how many times people wanted their picture with Diesel, every time I looked down there.

All Mrs could talk about at West Palm airport at dawn yesterday was how fluffy Diesel is and how excited she was to get a picture. sleep deprivation was strong.

Nice. Rodman was standing in front of me waiting to board our plane back home. When he entered the plane everyone stopped what they were doing and just staired. Quite entertaining.

Who ever is VEH now needs to keep it up!

The dancing on the stage early on was great.

I know it was hot so they couldn't keep it up for long but I hope they do something like that at the home games. Of course that means we would need a better sound system/DJ.

we were sitting in sec 210. An FSU fan sitting near us stopped as she passed by us and commented on how cool Diesel is when she saw our NIU gear.

Yes, it is CheerDad. HuskieBob travels with CheerDad & Diesel quite a bit to away games.
Diesel is a great dog. Very sweet & good natured. CheerDad says he travels really well. Everybody at tailgating wanted a pic with him too.
