Why not? Bottom feeder in the midwest where nobody cares or bottom feeder on the east coast having to live it down daily with co-workers, newspapers, etc.

I agree with you, Mark, are they really sure?

I feel badly for Maryland fans that didn't want to make the move, but..............................Shhhh! don't give the ones that did a chance to change their minds.

Let me stir something up...

If Maryland changed its mind and decided to stay, would the ACC then invite Cincinnati to be #16 (thus giving up on Notre Dame)?

Did you see what we saw last night? We don't need or want Maryland back after what they've done.

(extra points if you can guess the movie reference)

We're getting an SEC-level football program that has an elite men's basketball program attached at the hip. Dafuq we need Maryland for?

(with all due respect to AtlanticLeague who I know was one of the folks who hates the Maryland move)

The reptiles made their choice. Well, their president did who isn't even a sports fan, but a tool. Good luck being Indiana east without the great basketball.

I have no hard feelings towards UMD, and just like RU, I wish them the best of luck in the B1G. I think that they are a great school, and I have some good friends that went there. However, from a competitive standpoint, replacing them with UL was a HUGE win for the ACC.

I don't think they will change their mind. I hold no grudge against Maryland so they would be welcome back whenever they ask.
I do not think asking Cincinnati to join would mean that the ACC is shutting the door on Notre Dame. There is always room for Notre Dame even if the ACC had to go to 18 teams. They would make that much of a difference in revenues that it would be worth it to go to 18 teams if the ACC had to.

I just look at Maryland as filling some geography from NoVA to York, PA..good for TV market and draws the northern outpost closer.

I don't hate the move, I hate the way in which it was/is being conducted. But I appreciate the sentiment. 04-cheers

I find B1G games very boring...hopefully MD finds a niche there. If cable TV ala carte comes along...the B1G might not be ahead of the ACC. We'll see in 5 years.

So long. I won't miss them, as much as I hated to play them. Let them enjoy a rivalry with Iowa State.

RE: Maryland
When I think of Maryland I think of John Lucas, Len Elmore, Tom McMillian and Lefty. Those were the days. They played State in the game I consider the best college game ever played......and lost. For all the the talk about NC bias, Elmore was voted 1st Team All Conference over Tommy Burleson and Elmore boosted that he was the best center in the conference. It pissed Burleson off so bad that he put up 38 points and 12(?) rebounds head to head against Elmore in the ACCT championship. It is stuff like that that makes the ACCT the best. I hate that Maryland is gone, but with the new teams like Pitt, Syracuse, ND and Louisville I'm sure great new memories will be made.

Maryland's athletic department was in dire straits (they had already cut several sports programs) and the B1G offered a crap load of money. Can't fault them for that.

They did what they had to. So did Syracuse and so did Pitt. That's just the reality of college athletics right now.

I can't fault Maryland and I don't think it's fair to do so.
