Johnson after Fedora was like going from Captain America to Captain Kangaroo...

But that's behind us now. Never Again!

I still can't believe the 2012 season. I have never dreamed USM football would ever post a season close to this, let alone this bad. I remember the 93 season and how people in Hattiesburg were writing off USM ever having a good team again, and then look what happened, 18 straight winning seasons. I think we will be back in 2013 to winning football, but I doubt I will ever get over 2012. 03-nutkick

THE ONLY reason our game with UL was close is the weather. When it wasn't raining for the first two minutes of the game, UL rammed the ball down our throats and scored in no time. It was 7-0 instantly. Then the weather got really bad and it evened the playing field....throwing the ball was out of the question. Had the weather been decent, UL would have won by at least 35.

Look, you can say that and certainly the weather was horrific, but the truth is both teams had to play in it and any coach worth his salt knows you can get those games. Looking at USM football in 2012 I would say the coaching was as bad as I have ever seen in my years of following USM. From a coaching view I don't accept weather conditions doing more than changing how I approach a game and I expect my team to play to their best.

I guess I should address the statement more directly. USM showed they had talent to stay with Louisville. The score might be lower in a bad weather game, but if you are suppose to be the better team by a lot, you should be able to put the game away in any weather unless the team you played is closer to you in ability or you don't (as a coach) have your team as ready as you should.

Talent was never the issue. Coaching was. I understand that. I'm just saying that UL would have kicked the dog crap out of us if the conditions were even decent.

Rain is an equalizer. Doesn't matter how much faster you are than your opponents, in the rain and mud, it's all equal.

The same argument could be made for La Tech in 2011 when they played USM during a Tropical Storm. That year Tech was probably one of the toughest teams in the country, and if a play or two in each of their losses would've went a different way, they'd had back to back stellar seasons.

If we could have had Sammy Winder, Jerald Baylis, Reggie Collier, Brett Favre and Ray Guy in their prime this past season we wouldn't have been 0-12. Sorry but you have to accept what was and the rest is just opinion and no way of knowing if you are correct or not and all the rest of just speculation. That and a few bucks will get you a cup of coffee at your favorite coffee shop.

I think we had talent, but had talent issues (think of all the dropped passes), same with the coaches.. A big part of our problem was LEADERSHIP. The coaching staff didn't show any, so none of the players did either. It's a trickle down effect.

It wasn't just rain. It was a monsoon! The water was up to the players ankles. Anyways. I would love to continue playing Southern Miss. We still have 7 games I believe to win to catch up in the all time series.

Possibly, but that was some big ol' fat rain. Pretty much a steady downpour the entire game. Not many fields would have stood a chance against it.

I could be wrong shifty, and I have been in the past on many things, but when that field was put in, the drainage system was supposed to be top notch and water was to never pool like it did that night. I'm not sure if the Physical Plant is in charge of checking the draining system or if the Ath. Dept. took that over.

The fact that we haven't changed out the turf in forever probably did help either. It looked like doo-doo even during good weather.

dude...you are a trip...I really don't give two shites about your stupid jabs....you are a major part of why I have basically stopped posting...but every now and then your intellect makes me respond....oh yeah, go god...you don't even realize how much of a hypocrite you are....

You didn't answer my question, did you....dude. Are you really this immature that you fly off the handle when someone asks you a question on a message board?

The answer is an obvious no as I took your question as rhetorical as you...if you cannot figure out that weather almost always reduces the margin of victory, well.....will leave it hanging

....bottom line is we lost....every game....in one season....and they don't ask you how....only how many

Did I answer your question?

I wish Warren Hood was a football fan and not cater to Caroline's tennis....he could fix all of this by himself

That's another thing.. We spent I forgot how much on that turf and a department was supposed to upkeep it.. I don't think it ever happened.
