And if the ACC loses 2 teams and invites UC and UConn, they'll probably lose enough to give us a shot. And for BB, UC, UConn and Temple are as good as, or better than, SDSU, UNLV and UNM.

Not sure why people think we're going back to CUSA, either. Still enough nBE teams to have a decent conference, even w/o SDSU and Navy. Much better than going back to CUSA.

Solid points.

When you guys reference CUSA- are you meaning the Big East as it will be when Memphis gets there, or the real new CUSA that will include FAU and North Texas?

nBE is basically old CUSA (replace Louisville and Marquette with UCONN and Temple). The New CUSA is untenable for us as a conference. Saying we should go back is basically like saying we should have tried to join the Sun Belt back when Louisville and Cincinnati went to the BE. The MWC is even worse considering Boise's sweetheart deal (compound that with travel concerns as well). Frankly, I think that deal is going to keep Houston and SMU in the nBE for the time being.

Time to make lemonade out of lemons, folks. nBE is where we are and where we are likely to stay for a while at least. If we need to invite other members, go for Tulsa, and then look at Southern Miss after that (although I wonder about their football program's future viability going forward given last season). If SDSU stays in the fold, look at some other western schools possibly ahead of Tulsa, and definitely ahead of Southern Miss. Consider UTEP and /or UAB if it gets that far.

That's a better conference than we were in. Not by as much as we thought. But we aren't losing as much ground as we would have been either. Now, focus on making football better and keeping basketball at the level it should be. The rest is pretty much out of our control until the pieces start to shake again.
