OB TV ratings
Wow! A lot of people saw this game. What a great 3 1/2 hour advertisement for our school, and what a wonderful recruiting commercial. Let's take advantage beginning on February 6th. (Signing day)

http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releas...over-2012/

Quote:The 2013 Discover Orange Bowl – No. 12 Florida State beating No. 15 Northern Illinois 31-10 – averaged a 6.5 overnight. With the telecast, ESPN won the night as television’s most-watched network – broadcast or cable. This year’s telecast is 44 percent higher than the 2012 game, a 4.5 rating for No. 23 West Virginia defeating No. 15 Clemson 70-33.

Quote:The Discover Orange Bowl averaged an 11.1 overnight in Chicago, the second highest ESPN bowl rating in Chicago on record.

The above says so much I don't even know where to begin.........

That can't be correct. Everyone only wants to watch the BCS matchups.

RE: OB TV ratings
Wonder what the highest rated bowl game in Chicago area was. Illinois in the Rose Bowl?

So tell me again why the Orange Bowl didn't want us there?

ND in the Sugar Bowl against OSU would be my guess.

Great selling point to future bowl games. Look at the rating we drew!

The public wanted David vs Goliath whether ESPN liked it or not.

RE: OB TV ratings
I don't know about anyone else, but my Facebook feed with all those assorted people you used to know from high school or whatever was loaded up with a lot of "Go Huskies" and "gotta watch NIU" statuses from people with no tie to NIU.

For one night we were in people's consciousness and were Chicago's home team. That it happened once improves our chances of getting people's attention again.

At the very least, for the next few months maybe the local Domers and B1G fans won't look at us like martians for being Huskie fans.

RE: OB TV ratings
Our game put a big shadow over the NU historic win too. There is a lot more NIU loss coverage today than a NU bowl losing streak broke coverage.

But, as a lot of us have already mentioned. The question is what will we take from this and use to build on going forward.

More season ticket sales? More press during the season? More casual fan interest? Student interest? How was the atmosphere in Beer downtown? Will donations go up? Will we attract and continue to attract more athletic players?

These questions will determine the impact of the OB.
