Brando interveiws Aresco (1/2)
-Brando asked about SDSU: BIG EAST wants them to stay. Great people. They're re-examining the situation. Talking regularly. Situation will play out fairly quickly.
-Did everything reasonable to keep Boise. Not willing to do certain things. Recognize their value, but unfair to overall membership to make certain concessions.
-Exit fees on Boise and others: BIG EAST feels strongly that exit fees are binding.
-Group of good schools that play good football and are developing. Good programs in BB as well.
-Current group wants to stay together. On the phone regularly, meeting soon. Expressed strong support.
-Texas schools are "very firmly committed"
-League has a good future.
-Already have a tv deal in 2013 for FB. Working on Hoops for 2013.
- Aresco quoted someone - "Difficulty is an excuse that history has never accepted"
-Brando mentioned that Jurich (Louisville) has been praising Aresco. Aresco returned the praise - said Louisville has handled everything with the utmost class and though he wished they stayed is committed to staying in the league in 2013 (as opposed to leaving earlier).

Would be funny if Boise paid an exit fee.

I think Boise is resigned to paying some sort of exit fee since part of the deal, according to McMurphy, is that the MWC will help with that.

Guess they'll announce the two together ---

With the way things are shaping up one year is about all we could get. 2013 is going to be different from 2012 and 2014.

Here are the terms under which Boise has returned to the MWC >>>>

We can only hope. I am willing to bet the press conference will not include Bowen using the words "by golly".

How are they any different than TCU except the Big XII having bigger pockets than MWC?

Don't know that they (Boise) are but they might be different than the TCU situation. There certainly has been a change in the Big East membership since TCU. And certainly achange in prospects. Don't know if any of that impacts Boise's agreement with the Big East (including the exit fee amount) but it might.

It is. We will be in Big 12 country every time we travel to SMU, Houston and possibly Tulsa.
