More like "Bait and Switch". But truth be told anyone that has common sense seen every move coming. The 4 schools that left 1st, I can see why you took the chance, the last 2 were just crazy.

By the logic of your own words the SEC is stupid too for not picking up Charlotte. The Big 12 is also stupid because they didn't pick Charlotte up to be WVU travel partner.

It makes total sense to not want a a school that has never played a down of football and has to build a program from the bottom up. And they have to build this Divsion 1 program in 3 years.

Any credibility you might have had is now gone........01-wingedeagle

Well back around 2000 we were looking at starting an SAE chapter at UNCC. I spoke to the head of Greek Life as well as the President of the IFC. They said that because they were a commuter school they don't have a big Greek population or membership. This is what I was told by the representatives of UNCC. I was also told this by alumni that lived in Charlotte that UNCC was a commuter school.

That is why I have that perception because I am only repeating what I was told by people affiliated with the university. If it is true, then it will be exponentially harder to generate fan support for a budding football program.

Not sure what your definition of a "big Greek population" is but we have active Frats and Sorority chapters for most all that I know of, not to mention a pretty large Greek Village Housing Area (10-12 buildings) built on the north side of campus within the last 8-9 years.

UNC Charlotte has about 4,800 beds on campus right now and 69% of our Freshmen live on campus. That number does drop significantly after Freshman year, but approximately 65% of our students live within a 5 mile radius of campus.

2010 UNC Charlotte Master Plan

For comparison, ECU provides 5,500 beds on campus.

why bother? ECU is moving on and the members who are in C-USA or coming in are the ones you should be more concerned about. ECU will have to deal with their situation and UNCC with theirs and if the past is any indicator, UNCC will profit from being in C-USA so again, why bother?

Call it what anyone wishes, the conditions are different than anticipated.

The programs that are in the new conference are pretty solid institutions and should be able to cobble together a respectable conference. Not a conference that was anticipated, but respectable. CUSA should do what's best for CUSA, which imho wouldn't include disbanding to skirt exit/entrance fees, which just seems bizarre to me.

I think Conf USA is in good shape. There are still plenty of teams that would love to be in Conf USA. IN fact Conf USA, could still raid the Sun Belt and take what they wanted. Looks like the conf is just waiting to see what other chips fall into place before they invite someone new. From the looks of the thread started by the ULL guy, Ark State and ULL would jump through just about any hoops to get to the Conf.

My concerns about either conference is this: If the bigger conferences start expanding again (we know that is possible) how will it affect C-USA and the what is their name conference. The new (0ld Big East) will have 11 or less teams unless they add teams and no championship game, and what about bowl ties, and if they add teams who will they add, then what will the conferences losing them do?

Frankly, right now unless some answers come to those questions pretty soon, I am not attracted by the Whatever Conference and would have to say USM should stay put. There is just too many problems to set sail in a conference that has to put so much in line so fast.

Would think it would be best if CUSA brings in some teams close to other members to up the rivalries and cut down on travel costs. Not going to make much on TV money unless they pump up the sound.

Is New Mexico State on CUSA's radar at all? if not why? considering some of the other adds CUSA has made.
I can understand Idaho not being on CUSA's list.
I didn't read thru this whole thread, but I did try a quick search on the board here but didn't find anything.

Yes. After the last additions it was heavily rumored that NMSU and WKU are the next two in line.

Odd to me because Sun Belt didn't want to go back down the NMSU path again.
