What camera setup are you using?

Canon 5D Mark II right now. I have a 50mm 1.8, 135 f/2, 300 f/4. Saving up for a 400 2.8, then upgrading to the Mark III. After that, not sure, maybe the 200 f/2 or the old 200 1.8

I hate it.

When in doubt, just drag your mouse to the bottom-left corner. There's a desktop icon if you want to bypass all the BS.

Yeah, Windows 8 is not my fave either. It runs fast and smooth but the whole tile set up and the way it is presented to you is garbage for interface.

Go with the Car Audio.... factory audio is never as good as aftermarket :D

I had to upgrade some of my stuff in August when I got a new car. The Pioneer I got isn't too bad. Bought new Focal speakers. Brought over the 2 Orion XTR 12"s and Soundstream amps I had in my old car though.

Much like some of our PC/Mac "discussions", I use a different platform. 04-cheers

Nikon D90
35mm f/1.8
50mm f/1.8
18-200 mm
70-300 mm
12-24 mm f/4

I think a dedicated macro may be in my future, but since my photo taking has shifted from whatever I wanted to baby/toddler photography I haven't been sinking as much into it.

RE: Brag about Swag
Got a new laptop. I dig it and I like Windows 8. Reminds me of my iPhone with the apps. Got some Marshall stuff. Plus a bunch of random gifts like a hammer to get out of a car if I'm trapped, a fleece jacket that would have fit me 20 years ago when I was 15, and some other crap ill either sell on ebay or just give away to charity.

The best part of Christmas is giving my 3 year old son all his presents.

Absolutely. My boys are about to turn 2 (Jan) and 4 (Feb), and I was having such a blast watching (and photographing) them tear through their presents that I had to be reminded to open mine.

After my 400 and 200 (which will take forever because they're both about $4,500 used) i'll probably get the 24 f/1.4, the 100mm macro. I'd really love to save up for the Canon 1DX that came out this year, but that camera is $6,400. lol. I don't think there's any major difference between Nikon and Canon, honestly. I just love Canon for the sexy L lenses. 04-rock

RE: Brag about Swag
Yeah, those fast, long (or extra-wide) primes will make a huge dent in the bank account. I'm content with my zooms, because the distortion is corrected like nobody's business when I run the files through DxO.

Some people are too passionate about the Canon v. Nikon thing, but both are fine cameras. Hell, the Sony DSLR's are too. I went Nikon because of familiarity with their set-up...now all my gear fits Nikon.

My camera set-up has been pretty static lately...but I may be changing flashes. I can remote fire flashes from my camera, but only have one that works as a slave. Unfortunately, it is no longer available, so adding a second probably means buying a matched set.

RE: Brag about Swag
I liked zoom lenses until i started buying primes. I don't mind having to "zoom" with my legs. I just like the overall sharpness of primes a little more. I do think i'll buy a 17-40 L as a walk around lens though. It's the cheapest/lightest L lens Canon makes. Only about $700. The only thing i dislike it that it's an f/4 lens. I wish they'd make it in a 2.8, but then it'd probably be a lot more expensive. I really like the 24-70 II, but it's extremely expensive.

Oh, there's no doubt the primes are better lenses, I'm just not ready to start forking over the money for them yet. I carefully selected my zooms to keep the quality up, and have one more to pick up...a 28-70 f/2.8.
