Home defense is really a false theory. The truth is you are in greater risk with a gun in the home than without one. Here is one study that validates that http://aje.oxfordjournals.org/content/160/10/929.full

When it comes to DEFENSE, you are at greater risk without one.

Your first and second sentences aren't really related.

The study says (my summary) "People with guns are more likely to use them than people without guns." It says nothing of home defense, and actually, if someone did successfully defend their life and property with a gun it would be included in the data that you suggest says "home defense is a false theory".

I don't feel that I need to post the instances where people have defended their life and property with firearms. They are plentiful. And just one of the MANY examples debunks your statement.

Here are some things I'd like to see some data on:

1. How many attempted crimes were thwarted by someone with a legally possessed firearm, in which no shot was fired?

2. How much might any such data be low-balled by the very real possibility that such incidents frequently go unreported?

I'm not against a lawsuit. But right now, karma is so much more powerful. Numerous websites are outing the tards that published that info - trying to lump law abiding citizens in with a nutcase criminal. The personal info of those at that 'newspaper' has now been put out on the web, which is forever.

They really didn't think that idea through too well, now, did they? If they think that publishing the names and personal info of CCW holders was a great idea, they never thought that those who oppose their point of view might just see fit to publish the personal info of those at the paper all over the web.
