Again, for me it's not so much the content but the venom/tone in his voice.

I sure hope the PSU scandal and the cheating by some of the larger programs offended him as much as NIU's appearance in the OB.

It was an ex-Vegas guy who said the line would be 15 by game time. He did say that about Lynch, but he's never seen Moore or Ashford. He said it will be ugly for NIU. Rozner made it his second comment. He's a proud Huskie. BTW, a doc who writes articles for the Trib and who consults with my Med Mal section on medical malpractice cases and is an NU grad said "no doubt NIU beats NU this year." Talk about the Huskies at our little party started before I got there. Usually I have to start it.

Yep, I have never heard someone hating NIU this much. It is more then a toledo fan or someone that should have this type of hatred. My wife was in shock he would rip on NIU still during that game. For me I am fine with it, usually we aren't even thought of or talked about. He is the grinch/bad guy and there are a ton of people on NIUs side, not just MAC fans or even midmajors. I get more comments about my NIU gear then 2003 and it almost always starts with how they hate herbgeek or what is his problem. We just need to prove him wrong and I am extremely confident we will. If anything he has brought huskie nation even closer together with his hate. I don't think he realized how big we actually were, he must of went off of attendance numbers this year and thought we were an easy target.

Herbgeek has definitely helped NIU with extra support and sympathy.

Didn't watch Ball State. But Toledo did alright considering they had a lot of injuries and were playing a very good team. It's too bad Kirk can't be objective and he just looks at the score and comments on that. I hope we make him eat his words. Then we can give him a wedgie with his pink Alabama g-string he wears.

Ball State sucked! Made a CUSA and former MAC team QB look like a Heisman.
Not sure their Defense could stop anything.
Lembo their coach voted NIU as low as most of the Big 12.
How did Toledo lose to them?

Just watched the Herbstreit rant again from the BCS selection show and just realized the dude was spitting on himself and foaming at the mouth. At one point he has to wipe the spit off his face with his hand while Rece Davis is asking him the 2nd question. That is just amazing.

????? Why would a Toledo fan have hatred toward NIU? You're a conference mate, a division mate and for the most part a good bunch of folks. Most of all you're not Bowling Green who meets one of those criteria but is still worthy of hatred because, well, because they're Bowling Green. With a very few exceptions I think Toledo fans like NIU better than most MAC teams except when we play you all in volleyball or football lately. I am certainly pulling for an NIU win at the OB and will be glued to the set cheering my lungs out.

This is the off-season question that will haunt me until December 29th (our next home basketball game). However, we clearly weren't the team in the second half of the season that we were in the first. I think the WMU game was our high point and it trailed off from there.

The hatred from Toledo would of course be if we were rivals. We appreciate your support and that from other MAC fans. Hopefully we can keep up with FSU and maybe win, if for no other reason than to shut up the morons temporarily.

Not this game H2Oville Rocket, bowl games or out of conference we are on the same team, meant a division game, that would make more sense to me if we were ripping on one another. herbgeek I just don't get, its not like we are rivals with anything he is involved with, he must be losing money or espn is telling him to act this way, it doesn't make any sense. I know he dislikes midmajors but this is crazy.

Toledo is a great team and you have an incredible school and some of the classiest fans. Hope many of you are in Miami to support the MAC at the OB. Toledo has an incredible FB tradition and were good when we sucked, and beat us at home when we started our amazing revival.
Since 2004 playing Toledo has been a sort of highlight. The most anticipated MAC game and often the road to the Bowl.

BSU had a great season but Pete Lembo showed no class when he voted NIU #24 after we soundly beat BSU. The BSU Bowl show down if anything was a failure on his part to make adjustments or prepare his team properly against former MAC team CFU. BSU never belonged in the same arena as CFU. I regret the match-up.

If hte MAC is any good then everything Herb ever believed is wrong. He feels his time at OSU was an entitlement because he was so awesome but when a Toledo goes into Columbus and almost knocks off the Bucs, or an OU whips PSU in college Station or NIU makes the Orange Bowl the world no longer makes sense to Herb. He wants it nice and uncomplicated-OSU and other enormous state universities are good, pretenders from the MAC are bad. If the MAC is at the same level as the Big Ten and ACC then Herb wasn't special- the Jordan Lynches of the world can't be as good as he was can they? Of course they ARE but he'll never be able to admit this or his head will explode.

Who cares what he says? He's just a whining talking head.
He's the prototypical nasty jock whose daddy opened lots of doors for him.

Lynch is 5 times the QB, and man, that Herbie ever was.

The MAC is not as strong as the Big Ten or the ACC. That is just ridiculous to say. However, that does not mean that a MAC team should not go to the BCS. NIU played their way in and by the rules that were established for the BCS. Every year teams don't make it that should and only a playoff will really decide a champion and this is what Kirk should be focusing on.

Sadly this year we are underdogs in every game with two poor performances so far.

Toledo lost no doubt about that. However, a very wounded Toledo team held them in check well into the 4th quarter when the score was 13 to 9 with six minutes to play. That is when things got ugly as their QB had some big runs. I am not saying that missing First team MAC LB Dan Molls, who is also nations leading tackler, stops all of those big plays but no doubt he stops some. We were also missing First team All MAC RB David Fluellen. In addition to missing starting QB Terrance Owens. Utah State lost to Wisconsin by 2 points. They win that game and they are probably in the Orange Bowl. They were WAC champions and ranked 17th. We lost but I think the outcome is different without injuries. Losing Molls meant two guys moving to different positions. Losing Owens meant using Dantin who only played in one full game before this one. Losing Fluellen even meant losing our slot receiver Bernard Reedy who was inserted at RB a bunch of times. All around is was too many injuries to beat a good team. That being said, there are many times, other MAC teams included that have lost bowl games in the past. NIU has lost some before. Ball State has never won one ever. Toledo has lost some too. It might just be a case of the MAC beating some so so BCS schools this year, but we haven't had any huge wins. Maybe we are not as good as we think? Lets face it, some of us play some pretty weak schedules. That being said, good luck to the rest of the MAC and to NIU! Almost forgot, Kirk has been a jerk. That I am not arguing. I am also not arguing that NIU doesn't belong. NIU is in fair and square!

Only referring to the Bowl game and his fear that an upset throws his neat little world into a tizzy. The MAC champ goes against one of the best from the ACC- not conceivable for Kirk. However, when a middling MAC team (OU) beats one of the B10s best on the road (PSU), it certainly begs the question.
