SO pretty much everyone loves Clark, but what does everyone think about Grass for OC?

RE: Grass for OC?
Honestly don't know much about him. I know Oxford has been a good team lately. They missed out on the playoffs this past year I think.

I saw where he makes around $100k. How much of a raise could we give him?

I will trust Coach Clark (man, that feels good to say) to put together his staff. If he says Grass is the real deal, then I'm behind it. I know our offense will be ok. We have a lot of talent coming back. Coty returning would be icing on the cake.

It sure would. Coty really seemed to light up in that post press conference interview. But how well could Coty learn his system if he missed spring practice?

RE: Grass for OC?
Coty ran a spread offense in high school... still, spring ball would obviously help.

That said, he is a senior, and would be far and away the best QB on the roster at reading defenses - not to mention a legit threat to bust a run on a read play.

I really don't know what to make of Grass. I do know that as OC for the Alabama team in the AL/MS all star game, the AL team set a record for most points scored @ 51.
We might be able to do better for an OC, but we could surely do worse. My biggest concern is that our OC should be a good recruiter. On the up side, he has enough years in the Alabama high school system to have built a lot of relationships with coaches...how that translates to relationships with moms and dads remains to be seen.

Unfortunately, Coty's money and future are in baseball. I can't blame him for leaving early if he gets a good offer. Staying for his degree is bonk to me. He could get hurt. He needs to take the money and play as long as he can. JSU will be there when he's done.

It would actually make sense. New coach and all. If he has a good season this spring, I say he will be gone.

Clark and Grass have been buddies for years - I would imagine it could be a pretty nice set up to have someone you know and trust overseeing your offense as you come into a new HC position -
I'm all for it - I don't think Clark will attempt to bring in anyone he has even a shadow of a doubt about -He's coming here to win - he'll pick the right coaches to make that happen -

RE: Grass for OC?
We already have an alum as a HC, why not an OC as well? From what I can tell, Clark is trying to set up a fast paced spread offense to put points on the board. From what I've read, Grass' offense at Oxford was big about putting points on the board. Lets face it, that's been a problem at JSU for YEARS. I think it's going to be a great fit. Fast offense with a knock you out defense. I don't want to be to haste, but I feel like we can get back to the playoffs next year with the way things are shaping up.

I caught part of an Oxford game this year on TV-24 (since it is carried on U-verse in Birmingham) and was impressed with how frequently and quickly they scored.
