I'll break it down for you so you dont have to read 17 pages. First 3 creditible reporters are on this story - Thamel, Dobb, and that BSU guy Murphy I think. MWC 10 made a pack to stay together and rejected BE. MWC speaking with BSU and allowing them to keep all their home games to sell to networks. Still plenty of inventory for the MWC on BSU away games. May get BYU same deal if interested. CBS big part of this and gets first pick of games. 2 other networks gets to pick games CBS passes on. Order of picking by other 2 to be determine. MWC also talking with another BE non western team (unknown who). Kustra (BSU pres) may make statement before MAACO bowl. Believed that BE deal worth 2.1 mil to each school which would be a net loss for Boise. (note: I do not stand for the validit of any of the above, those guys once said they were getting ACC money).

Thanks cyc, most I already knew....Who is the non western team the MWC is talking to, is Houston considered west to them? I don't think any deal they could get is even in the 2.1 million dollar range. I'd reverse those numbers and that might still be high...game over.

Memphis?

I think the 2.1 figure was from Dodd (30 million / 14 teams = 2.1). From what SI was saying, the Big East hasnt even been able to get a number due to the swinging door membership. If Boise leaves, the Big East's last big selling point national conference, all 4 times zones--that selling point is dead.

Im thinking nBE would downsize, and build around ECU, Temple, USF, UCF, Memphis, Cinci, and UConn. S Miss, UMass, ODU, and Marshall would make sense. If it were me, I'd ditch the championship game and keep it small--8-10 members tops playing a round robin.

Not sure that Houston, SMU, and Tulane make sense anymore. I'd like to see Houston and SMU head west with Boise, but Im not sure if we will.

Ill take a pm if youre offering ; )

I have no idea anymore. We all heard that Tulsa was being considered a few weeks ago for the MWC. It obviously looks like a great opportunity.

All of this just sucks. I really liked CUSA just the way it was this year.

Again, UC and UConn already have one foot out the door. There ain't going to be no rebuilding around them.

One fo the reasons the MWC formed, was because they didn't want a widespread conference. I doubt they would do that now.

Navy FB only to offset Hawaii FB only. They'd be in the MWC west division with Air Force.

They will be losing money sending their olympic sports all over creation, but hell, some were in here yesterday making the case of how nice it would be to visit San Diego and therefore, totally worth being a BE member. Never mind the fact a lot of those same posters were screaming "regionality" every chance they got while they thought they were still stuck in C-USA.

Well to be fair to all those guys from UCF, Houston, SMU, and Memphis that were talking about all the money they would be getting....A lot has changed in the last few months that has killed the value of the Big East TV contract. If you go back 6 months ago, the Big East TV contract was going to be HUGE compared to CUSA and the MWC.

The main problem for Aresco is the league will not stay stable long enough for him to get a TV deal done...Every time he starts serious negotiations he has to deal with more teams bailing. I bet he wishes that they would have accepted the ESPN offer from a couple of months ago...Once they turned ESPN down the Big East was done.

It is a cluster for sure...Hopefully they just get the TV deal done soon and get some stability long enough to come up with a plan for the conference.

The funny thing is it appears that the MWC may end up getting Boise St back and leave SDSU out of the mix....They must have really pissed off some people in the MWC.

I just wish all of this crap would stop...I am tired of it all. I just want to watch ECU games. I am actually happy that Boise St and SDSU may be out..I would rather play USM and Marshall instead of those western schools. Now what would suck is if Houston and/or SMU went to the MWC. My hope is SDSU and Boise St leave and we can add another team or two from CUSA that should not have been left out.

So let me stop you right there. All that money that was being thrown around was contigent upon so many different moving parts working as one. For some strange reason, people thought expansion/realignment was over and it never really was. And the BE has never been a model of stability.

Now UH, SMU, UCF, Memphis, and now ECU fans get ripped because not only because they thought they were getting a bunch of money, but because they belittled CUSA as a conference on the way out the door, and they were pompous to believe schools like UL, Rutgers, and the Basketball-only schools would not leave in the forseeable future.

Well a lot of us were right about the future of the BE and a lot of y'all were wrong about the BE future. The ones that were wrong are wondering what the hell as happen. The Memphis board don't even has the BE banner posted anymore.

It's gonna take them forever to recoup their exit and entrance fees, and in the end, we'll probably wind up together anyway.

You can leave ECU out of the this situation....

I will say this about ECU posters, most of y'all have been pretty consistent about degrading CUSA for the last 5 or 6 years.

Yep because there are certain football in this league that disgust me, of course the Big East invited 1 of them on the same day they invited us.

not a good long term investment for any CUSA team. If all this is true, your value is low, your nationwide conference model failed, and not a single one of you are loyal any longer than there is 1 more dollar to be made. Just stick in your little circle of buddies and play amongst yourselves.
