MWC restructures deal with CBS. Next move is Boise's.

Dan Wolken @DanWolken
...Problem with any Boise returning to MWC scenario was TV deal. If it has been restructured, as @dennisdoddcbs reports, that changes things.
...How badly does TV want to destroy the Big East? CBS basically devalued its own deal with the MWC to make it happen.

This could have huge repercussions to the nBE.

Wow!
Why would Memphis still want to be in the nBE?

The MWC has talked to one non-western school. Could very well be Memphis. Their basketball would do well with NM, UNLV, SDSU, etc

Because the nBE is what used to be C*USA, and C*USA is what used to be the Sun Belt.
UAB needs to get to where Memphis is... And I'm sure we're doing nothing about it.

We need to pay millions in exit and entrance fees just to follow Memphis to a dying conference? I don't think so any more. Especially if SDSU, Boise, Houston, and SMU go to the MWC.

I believe the nBE is crumbling apart at the moment.

The Big East might be crumbling, but our peer universities (Memphis, Houston, UCF, USF, Cincinnati) are not coming back to C*USA. ODU and Charlotte are nice, but MTSU, UNT, and F_U are not replacements for losses.

Memphis went to the nBE for basketball. Since then Louisville has left along with Rutgers, and now the 7 Catholic basketball schools are leaving.
What basketball?
Now from the Memphis board....

So this is what the Mayans were talking about.
to he77 with all of it. Just can't bring myself to care any more. I hope the Sunbelt will let us in. Maybe the WAC or MAC. It has just gotten too embarassing.
Note to University: Take that stupid "Memphis to the Big East" billboard down. It is a painful joke to all of us at this point.

I hear you, but UAB is rarely mentioned in any of these discussions.

There is no incentive to move from CUSA to the MWC or vice-versa on your own.
Now, if it is part of the "deal", then you don't have to worry about exit fees, entry fees, etc.

I don't see the Big East schools coming back at this point. If anything, I think schools like UAB, Southern Miss, Marshall, etc. will be added to the group that is currently in place if the Boise/SDSU thing falls apart. I'd prefer to move into a conference with UConn and Cincy(knowing they have one foot out the door), Memphis, ECU, USF, UCF, Temple, Houston, and SMU(I think I got every team here, but who knows!) then be in a conference with the F_U schools. I like some of the additions to C-USA, and I hate some of the others. If we are looking to increase attendance, playing teams like Temple and Memphis would help more than playing UTSA and FIU. This will all sort itself out soon enough I guess.

Keep in mind the sources. There couldn't have been more than a handful of people on our realignment board who knew the BE basketball schools bolting was very likely.

That's because that board is populated by idiots. Granted, you had a good source, but just basic knowledge of how the world works is plenty to show that that inter-species union could not stand.

I'll admit to a macabre fascination reading the posts from those who didn't just say they weren't leaving but actually made attempts to argue that the non-football schools staying was the most logical decision.
