Great defensive second half. Our offense is going to struggle when the 3s aren't dropping. Will be interesting to see how we manage the Big East.

Semaj Christon looked like he pulled a groin instead of muscle cramps. That would definitely hurt X the rest of the year.

Exactly. They're playing against the walking wounded and they rain threes. WTF? Go at them.

And what's with Davis limping down the court and they can't even defend the shot?

UC went easy on X.

That's what I thought too. His facial expression suggested it was something more significant than cramps, as does the time on the bench and him putting on warmups.

Children are watching the game at home and ESPN2 is basic cable.

1) X is going to be a handful if davis and christon continue to develop.

2) When was the last time any of our SF or guards were able to post their defenders? if there's an opportunity to post, maybe we should try and take advantage, even if it's high post or at the elbow.

Agree with what has been said, Davis and Christian are going to be really, really good. UC was the better team, so I was never really worried. They just wore down Xavier.

Also want to add, glad this game is over so we can move on to the serious part of our schedule. Trap game against Wright State (top 150 projected RPI) and then the back to back ranked games against New Mexico and Pittsburgh.

Place was rockin pretty good tonight, still don't like the place, man I'm glad this game is over. When the going got tough, Semaj left the building, looks like the prima donna type to me.

RE: Xavier Game Thread
XU did a nice job denying us slashing to the basketball...forcing outside shots and luckily for XU we just weren't hitting a lot of them tonight.

Cash was big...SK too.

Parker we tough all around.

I hate seeing Rubles shoot three's...but if they are denying the lane to the rim, you pretty much take him out of the offense.

I thought our press and overall pressure and defense were just suffocating once again....hats off to the D; our defense won this one for us. Also, we just crushed them on the boards.

I have to give some props to Davis from X - he was hurting but gave it all he had. You have to wonder about the nutrition/hydration on their team though.

RE: Xavier Game Thread
also...it's obvious we just don't have a low post scorer....a go to guy ala Gates, Fortson, Maxiel, etc. Gates would have feasted on this team down low.

If we get knocked out of the tourney, it will be because we run into a team that we need a low post scorer to beat or if our guards aren't hitting much (like tonight).

But it is what it is...we knew this coming into this year. Good news is, our guards and wings usually are enough to win.

But this team wins, not because of shooting, its because of defense, rebounding, and blocked shots. Our inside presence gets us this every night.

Xavier really packed it in against the drive. If the triples were falling it would have gotten ugly.

A side note, mick said that Rubles has the "Lance Stephenson syndrome" . He has the green light because he makes every shot in practice.

I don't like to critique athletes, especially college athletes, over injuries because fans never know the seriousness as a spectator. But it'll be interesting if a further injury comes out about Semaj in the next day. If he was seriously out for ~ 45 minutes of live time for cramps, then that's sad. I know cramps suck but his preparation, diet, and hydration must be a joke. I gained some respect for Dee Davis battling it out on the other hand.

UC was up 11 when he came out, but of course some Eggsavier fans are saying that's the reason they lost. Too comical!

Also if their coach would recruit kids who are going to be eligible, depth wouldn't have been an issue. Basketball is a long season and only counting on 8 scholarship guys (including two freshmen and multiple inexperienced players) is a risk. But like I said, that's all directed at the coach.
