RE: Biggest NIU Message Board Meeting Ever
It was great meeting up with a lot of you before the game. 04-cheers It was a LONG pre-game for my group. I might've had one or two. But it was cool to camp out close the Sprinter and be amongst all the great Huskie fans.

I had a blast meeting my fellow board members! Glad I remembered to bring the name tags & sharpies.
Tried to get around & find as many of you guys as possible but I am also glad many of you found your way to me so we could meet.

It's fun to now have a face to go along with screen names. Thanks everyone for introducing yourself!

Nice to meet you and some others for the 1st time as well as those met before.

We all should take pride as well as the whole Huskie Nation on our turnout and teams great season and effort in the OB.

The memories of seeing everyone wearing their huskie fanfare and all the red walking along FTL Beach, the fans chanting NIU on the way in, our 20k sounding as loud as FSU, and Huskie fans staying til the end and cheering afterwards will last a life time. Hoping that this spreads til next season in attendance and hoopla and hope to make some more road trips and bowl games in the future.

Great trip, turnout and time to be a Huskie!

04-rock

(And I hope the founding members of the NIU Lacrosse club in 77 found their way from Elbo Rook on FTL Beach to the game. Those guys were AWESOME!)

I'm not sure if I met anyone on this board or not but had a blast meeting and tailgating with Huskie fans before the game. Someone saw my Miami shirt, yelled "MU!" and invited me into their group within seconds of me getting out of my car. Also sat next to the nicest Huskie family (couple with a toddler) in the stadium who kept buying me beers and refusing my money. I know the result wasn't ideal but I hope everyone had a blast.

Also I must say for all the constant hubbub about FSU girls, there were gorgeous NIU fans literally everywhere you turned (and on the jumbotron). Well done.

Agree. NIU had some talent at the game. Good for us!

I was handing out name tags to members of this board in Lot 10. Did you make it to lot 10?
Thanks for your support! Glad you had a good time. :-)

RE: Biggest NIU Message Board Meeting Ever
Our bus trip from the hotel also had a police escort for our 4 buses from the Hyatt (thought I was watching CHiPs again for a minute) so that was cool. They guided us up to the building for the pre-game tailgate, when I got to front of the line they said we couldn't go out again and back in and also my feet were bothering me, so I decided not to make the walk to Lot 10. Would have liked to though.

I should have hung out (figuratively speaking) with you guys. Instead, I opted for hanging out (literally speaking) at South Beach, where I met some not-so-friendly police officers. They were rude, laughed, and kept snapping my Spandex mini shorts while giving me some serious wedgies. Lucky I met a gay officer. He was nicer and a lot more gentle. Actually, he may have been TOO gentle!! Oh well, at least he didn't rub me the wrong way.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There wasn't a name tag table...just me walking around asking people if they were on the NIU forum and if they were I gave them a name tag to write their online name. Way too many said no and didn't even know what forum I was talking about. I wrote down the site for several people so hopefully they find us & sign up.
Sorry we missed you.

RE: Biggest NIU Message Board Meeting Ever
You know, I think it would be fun to try having a bunch of us meeting at a tailgate in DeKalb next year.

If anybody else is interested, we should try to make that happen.

Yeah, you know, my group always tends to hit a bar prior to the game and rush in right before kickoff, but I really enjoyed hanging out by the Sprinter with all the people from the board. I'd really love to do that again sometime next year. Good idea. I also really liked the idea of agreeing way ahead of time on where to park for away games, it made the experience even better being around all of us die hards. We all know how much that experience really meant.

Lol my favorite part about the name tags was that niuguy kept walking around and people were all drunk saying HEY ARE YOU NIUGUY and he kept thinking they were from the boards when they were really just drunk tailgaters laughing at his noncreative name.

Seriously though, thanks to addict for bringing the name tags, great idea. Nice to meet everyone!

I was clueless or drunk and didn't even notice name tags. I was tailgating with the cars and NIU tents right next to the Sprinter. What a great time!! It was like a home game.

RE: Biggest NIU Message Board Meeting Ever
I did a little bit of field work down there. I ended up going to a bar on Hollywood beach on the 30th (Nick's) with my wife. We got a "Huskies!" call from a nice young couple. After speaking with the guy for a few minutes, I began to smell our brand of fanaticism on him. I asked, "Are you a message board guy?" He said, "Yeah, HuskiePride12. You're Cawoo aren't you?"

The look from our significant others at that moment was one of my favorite moments of the whole trip. It was kind of a cross between amazement and disgust.

Message board geekery is superior to all others.
