Is 40" too long for carry on?

I have the 20 ft pole. Works great. But you need the base for another 50+.

I would think you could check a bag w/ the base, and put the pole in a tube, as for fishing. Highly doubt you can carry on.

I actually made a small pole years ago for Sugar Bowl. Snuck it in, but I think they were allowed. Cut a dowl rod in 3 pieces, connected them with copper tubing and used plastic strap ties for the flag. (cut grooves in the dowl rod) I actually fit it in a carry on. Coming back out of Jackson. MS (long story) the old security guy was very confused.

I later built a base with pipe fititng into a piece of plywood for the NIU/TN game to put on top of rental. At OHare and Knoxville I flat out showed them right away. OHare had no issues. Knoxville I think the guy thought it was a type of pipe bomb at fisrt, then laughed.

I am sure with a little Huskie ingenuity, WalMart or a Builders Sq will get the job done with aluminum piping probably.

Of note though, no flagpoles allowed @ Sun Life.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've thought about a home-made job, but short on time...

No problem. The more I think of it, I am going to build one there. I am going to bring my base I buit for TN, and go from there.

Builders square lol.

My recipe for a flagpole holder:

approx 3' of 2X6 lumber
1' of 1.25" galvanized pipe
1.25" pipe flange
4 - #12X1.5" wood screws
or
4 - 5/16X2" bolts with washers and nuts (must countersink in bolts under wood so it sits flat on ground)
