Yes- we seemed under prepared in 2003.

May be time for the mocking to end.

Not the time to "let this rest"

Being "under prepared" in 2003 has cost this university untold millions in past and future revenues.

The best part of this?

HE got a gosh damn golden parachute.

The only solace I take is that he'll get what he deserves one day.

One way or another.

We would not have been added in 03 if Jesus was the AD, I can't believe some of you don't realize this. Just look who is causing all of the ruckus right now, that's who didn't want us in back then.

Maybe. Maybe not. I have a hard time believing that if Jurich was hired by Memphis in 1996 instead of by Louisville in 1997 that we would been left out. It's conjecture either way.

These are all facts:

1. 2003 shoudl have been a HUGE wakeup call for us
2. Our AD ad the time promised that we would be the most prepared for the "next round" of expansion
3. After such public proclomations we did virtually nothign to improves facilties or our standing for about five years
4. We have been woefully underprepared for the "next round" of expansion

We went to five bowl games and averaged around 40,000 per game from 03 forward until DeAngelo left and TWest imploded. We weren't prepared because the pecking order was still high. In that time frame we had the most successful basketball program in the nation and one of the most attended.

Turn it around, if Jurich had been at Memphis, would Lville have gotten in?

What did RC do to take advantage of the on field fooball success? Did he start a capital campaign in January 2004 to strike while the iron was hot? Did he do ANYTHING?

The answer is no. He did absolutely NOTHING.

If you think BB success has anything to do with confernce realignment then you are more obtuse than RC.

He was AD while Memphis had its most successful run ever in football and in basketball. He set records for raising money. He did his job. No one would have gotten us into the Big East in 03 because we weren't invited. Were we caught by surprise? Yes, just like what has happened in the past few weeks. Is it Bowen's fault all of this almost blew up yesterday?

Getting back to Louisville, you know who deserves the credit? Their fans and boosters. They show up and made the donations necessary to get where they are. We just biatched about it.

It doesn't matter a whit how successful we are in Basketball to these BCS schools. There are three elements that are important to our acceptance as a quality school, worthy of membership in the BCS country club, 1) academic reputation, 2) football prowess,
3) Basketball prowess. A combination of any two of these is necessary.

Yes. Except for #3.
