To be fair, some of the fans of the "defector" schools have acted like a**clowns on this board.

Where's BigEastHomer or any of 10 reiterations????

On the Big East board

So you're telling me that if Marshall and USM get the call you guys are going to politely say no and stay in CUSA 3.0 instead of joining most of your old buddies in the nBE... I mean CUSA 1.5?

I'd just like to say that I wish nothing but the worst for ECU, Memphis, Tulane, Cincy, USF, UCF, Houston, SMU (almost forgot them due to chronic irrelevance).
This is such a sweet sweet day. Tomorrow may suck again for Southern Miss, but today is spectacular.

Didn't really mean that. Kinda wish we could get the band back together. Tulane is actually my 2nd favorite school. Just had to bury that hatchet.

I say we hang the banner @ Dallas Hall on the Hilltop.

Calleen you want to meet me @ Goffs for lunch and help with the logistics?

Maybe put some SMU is CUSA signs around the Park Cities.

I wouldn't sweat it. You guys are going to be with us when this thing shakes out anyway. No way BSU/SDSU stay in this thing. There will be a new conference formed, and possibly a new alliance.

Honestly, USM should have been in this thing already.

We would and should join with ECU and UCF instead of staying in CUSA. That may only be one step forward, but staying in CUSA is 5 steps back. I hope it happens (with Marshall and Tulsa). I think it will because we are a safe decision. We offer a commitment and history of success in athletics (basketball recently), not an indecent market (especially given tv ratings), and rival play for fans of current BE schools like ECU and UCF; we also offer stability given the desire of Cincy and UCONN to split and our history of being a committed conference member (something you would think the BE is looking for at this point). Plus, who else is there? Western teams like UNLV and Fresno will stay put, especially when Boise and SDSU decide to go off and anchor an all sports MWC or something similar. Who else is there in the East? ODU? Charlotte? We may get passed up once, but not twice or three times, and without BSU or SDSU, the BE sits at 10.

I think the NCAA is going to grant whatever new conference is formed a waiver for an autobid.

Maybe we can get the old Fox Sports South network deal again that we had in the late 90s and early 2000s (3:30 CUSA game of the week!). I loved that deal!

You guys are stupid if you think any of them are "coming back." They'll just pick off ever how many they need to get to 12, 14, or 16 - whatever that number is after the schools that go back to MWC or get picked up by the ACC (if that happens).

The question is what will they want? Their CUSA buddies from years past or will some of the new additions get more consideration?

I'm sure the lawyers will figure out a way to keep the conference in tact with the basketball credits and tv money as it stands now, while letting the basketball schools go their merry way with a cut.

@McMurphyESPN: If/when 7 hoops schools leave, Big East will have lost 17 members since 2005. Even WAC is impressed

we are not coming back to this dump. no way houston or SMU gets associated with the likes of UNT and UTSA. Hoping for a new conference that takes Tulsa and So.Miss, then have fun in SBC 2.0

Isn't it amazing how a TV market can give you such a big head.

Lol Marshall fan....you guys have done nothing for the conference and neither had UAB....all a bunch of leeches

Well like I said before, I think C-USA could take back Houston and ECU with the rest having to present a case as to why we should want them. If they don't fit with us anymore, then good luck but we have moved on, and if Houston doesn't like being with North Texas then tough they opened the door to the conference for NT when they left and they don't have any right dictating terms. The conference can do well without Houston, but many (like myself) would like to see Houston back, but if they don't come back it won't bother me either. ECU I admit I hate to see go. I have seen so many good games between the Eagles and Pirates, and USM lobbied to get ECU in C-USA, Marshall and ECU games represent triumph over tragedy each time they play. Of course that is just my feelings on it and with a few bucks and my opinion you can buy a cup of coffee.
