Funny considering you jumped from the Sun Belt to CUSA because you wanted more money.

Yeah the only schools who really have the right to give that lecture are USM and UAB. All the rest defected to C-USA at one point for the main reason to get more money.

I'm not sure that is exactly true for Rice. The move to C-USA with Tulsa & SMU from the WAC just made sense geographically and economically (in not losing more money with Olympic sports). I (and most Rice posters) have been and always will be respectful of the WAC as they gave Rice a home when the SWC folded.

Uh, Texas School Book Depository--it was never intended for the treatment of 'rhoids.

'Twas a movie reference. 03-wink

Truthfully I don't know what DR Kopp and Mike Hamrick will want to do. Right now the 6 that left CUSA do not have a home conference, the C7 has the conference "Big East". Then NCAA does not have to grant a new conferece formation.

The 6 that left do not have bowl contracts or an autobid, no TV revenue and no network to play on. Tell me what makes this attractive......

Not to mention the hefty exit fees etc. Moving to a league like that spread all over the place would be a total lateral move now. I personally don't have any desire to play schools like Tulane, Houston, SMU etc. Just schools in big cities that nobody gives a rats ass about. In a perfect world, those three would go to the MWC with Boise and SDSU when the time comes. I'm sure Tulsa and UTEP would want to follow there as well.

The only way I could see it being worth the investment of paying an exit fee is if a new conference configuration looked like this:

Temple
Cincy
ECU
Marshall
ODU
Charlotte
USF
UCF
Southern Miss
Memphis
La Tech
UAB

There is your 12 schools. Good mix of football and basketball with geographic locations that make sense. Keep the door open for Navy. I didn't include UCONN because UCONN is good as gone. They will be in the ACC. Cincy or Temple may land there as well but you get my point. This is the only way I could potentially see it being worth it.

I don't want to quote my posts telling everyone that EXACTLY what transpired today (new conference) would happen, but if somebody wants to do it for posterity, please feel free.

Has anyone put any of these "perfect" cookie cutter conferences together leaving out their own school? Just askin'...
