They can't... because like every other program in NCAA, you have to see who is returning and who isn't so you know what seats are available. Returning season ticket holders(and i think HASF donors) always get there ticket packages first at the kick off party..and then have a certain length of time to return the package with payment before they start selling other seats.. same as with any college..

I graduated in '09 also, I was going to buy season tickets this past season but with my work schedule I would have only made 3 home games. This year I'm going to buy them no matter how many home games I can make.

You could sell the seats that aren't already taken or just a promise of a section for now, and pick the seats later.

BUT, I really stress that all this enthusiasm will fade after the game, regardless of the outcome, but especially if we get spanked. People who visit this board and of the others who have been aroused by this fantastic exposure, MUST commit themselves to carry it over to next year. The cost of a season ticket is less than $100. Buy one or more. Get friends to buy them. Failing to buy season tickets now, buy at least a game or two. We need to fill Huskie Stadium. We at least need to show a sizable improvement in home attendance. The west stands should be close to full. Next year we will have the Chessick Center and a new scoreboard capping the two endzones. Now we need attendance to rise to support other stadium improvements. That and the HS championships being in DeKalb will make next year's recruiting much more favorable. The Orange Bowl is a very expensive contribution and any support is welcome. The proof will be in how the NIU family shows next fall.

Athletics and the Alum Association are working on getting sign ups for info on season tickets at every OB watch party in Illinois.

There is too much that goes into seat selection..HASF donation, people from previous years moving, people not renewing, etc..

When it comes to season tickets for seats that were open the previous year, its first come first serve, even with the seats you need to donate to HASF. There is no priority using the points system. They go on sale the day of or Monday after the HASF kickoff...usually the second or third week of Feb.

Several seats do open up between that date and the priority deadline because current season ticket holders move around or just don't renew.

I am doing it with 3 family members. We are forgoing all Christmas gifts and probably going into debt to do this. There may not be any Christmas presents for several years due to this trip. But this is NIU going to the ORANGE BOWL and It will probably never happen again!

LOTS of people will be at this game for NIU. More than you may think.

I am scared witless about where our seats will be even though we have spent $900 on 4 tickets. My family and I are making sacrifices for a long time to come to be able to go to this game.

You, sir, are a true, loyal, dedicated fan. Congrats to you.

P.S. I'm in the same boat. Lots of cancellations and doing without after this trip. Any second thoughts for me? No, siree!!!

Thanks Dog Fan. I LOVE the Huskies. There is no other way to say it. I just love them. And my boys love them too.
We are not wealthy people. Our season tickets, gas & parking for all the games...that is hard to afford. We can't donate anything. We can just try to be at all the home games...and be there for this one.

Which is the beauty of the Huskies. Quality FBS football at a very affordable price. Parking is cheap, and with a relatively small donation, you can even park next to the stadium. Food prices are not obscene, and the entire experience is very family friendly.

As with all good things, watch for this to end with the Huskies' success. With greater and greater success and facility improvements, watch the ticket, parking, and concessions prices rise. I just hope they don't price out the loyal fans who have supported the team all these years through thick and thin. Lots of folks are working hard to afford what we have now.

I am so thankful that we are not a big-time BCS school. How many of us would be able to afford the huge donations just to get tickets, as well as the price of tickets and parking?

not me and my family that's for sure.

You could at least do Young Alumni on the East Side season tickets where it's general admission, I refuse to believe there's any concern about them being sold out by current ticket holders before they are open to the public.

And I still think you could sell tickets for a lot of sections on the West Side and just give the option of declining the seats when the time comes to determine which seats are actually available.

I don't mean to get you in a bad mood but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you were not able to get the $225 seats that you ordered because of the whole points thing.

They said that the $225 seats are sold out but if a big donor comes in before the end of tomorrow (priority seating deadline) I doubt that they will tell them no. Then the person at the bottom of the line would get bumped.

I really hope they let season ticket holders who are not HASF donors get allocated before the bandwagon fans.

Again I really didn't want you to worry about this the next few days but just didn't want it to blind side you either.

My family is in the group with HuskieBob's 22 ticket order and things have worked out just fine. The big concern for me was that we were being seated in with other Huskie fans (and with our friends) and not to be in the end zone. My last trip to Soldier Field vs. Wisconsin was a horrible experience ...we bought the highest priced tix and had UW fans - nasty, mean, drunken UW fans - seated right behind us. It was awful. I don't ever want an experience like that again.
If HuskieBob earns more loyalty points from the purchase of our 4 bowl tickets I gladly give them to him. He would used them more than we would anyway. It is unlikely we will be able to attend another bowl game in the near future and our season tix are where we want them to be.

Thanks for the gentle heads up warning tho HuskieJohn. I appreciate it.:-) 04-cheers

We have not been offering any discounts for young alums the past few years.

This is a mistake...We need to offer cheap season tickets to new/young alums (graduated within 4 years). Keep the students that do care about Huskie football involved and coming back.
