5 of my 11 haven't been to a NIU game in years and have 0 interest in Soldier Field games.

This game means something for many many NIU fans, regardless of the final number.

Boise doesn't make you pay for unsold tickets.

RE: Ticket Update
While it IS expensive as hell to be buying tickets thru NIU AND flying to Florida at this time of year...I believe that MANY people will do it.

I am doing it with 3 family members. We are forgoing all Christmas gifts and probably going into debt to do this. There may not be any Christmas presents for several years due to this trip. But this is NIU going to the ORANGE BOWL and It will probably never happen again!

LOTS of people will be at this game for NIU. More than you may think.

I am scared witless about where our seats will be even though we have spent $900 on 4 tickets. My family and I are making sacrifices for a long time to come to be able to go to this game.

You, sir, are a true, loyal, dedicated fan. Congrats to you.

P.S. I'm in the same boat. Lots of cancellations and doing without after this trip. Any second thoughts for me? No, siree!!!

A trip to a BCS game isn't going to happen again for another year for NIU....so after you buy all the Orange Bowl champs gear Jan 2, start saving for next year!

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe BSU is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

Thanks Dog Fan. I LOVE the Huskies. There is no other way to say it. I just love them. And my boys love them too.
We are not wealthy people. Our season tickets, gas & parking for all the games...that is hard to afford. We can't donate anything. We can just try to be at all the home games...and be there for this one.

A school selling 3000-5000 tickets for the Orange Bowl is not unheard of, Uconn and others have eaten many tickets... I think we're already ahead of a team or two actually.

Not sure how accurate it is, but from wikipedia:
Quote:Despite receiving more than $2.5 million of the $17 million payout given to the Big East for Connecticut's participation, the Connecticut athletic department estimated it lost $1.8 million by playing in the Fiesta Bowl. Connecticut, which was required to purchase 17,500 tickets to the game, resold only 2,771 of those tickets, resulting in a $2.9 million loss.

Yahoo Sports seems to confirm, a somewhat more reliable source.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/bl...aaf-328853

This second article says they distributed closer to 5,000, guessing they did the same thing as NIU with student tickets to get to that number.

Which is the beauty of the Huskies. Quality FBS football at a very affordable price. Parking is cheap, and with a relatively small donation, you can even park next to the stadium. Food prices are not obscene, and the entire experience is very family friendly.

As with all good things, watch for this to end with the Huskies' success. With greater and greater success and facility improvements, watch the ticket, parking, and concessions prices rise. I just hope they don't price out the loyal fans who have supported the team all these years through thick and thin. Lots of folks are working hard to afford what we have now.

I am so thankful that we are not a big-time BCS school. How many of us would be able to afford the huge donations just to get tickets, as well as the price of tickets and parking?

I don't mean to get you in a bad mood but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you were not able to get the $225 seats that you ordered because of the whole points thing.

They said that the $225 seats are sold out but if a big donor comes in before the end of tomorrow (priority seating deadline) I doubt that they will tell them no. Then the person at the bottom of the line would get bumped.

I really hope they let season ticket holders who are not HASF donors get allocated before the bandwagon fans.

Again I really didn't want you to worry about this the next few days but just didn't want it to blind side you either.

I asked to be put in the gay/lesbian/transvestite section. They told me it was full but that I may be able to bump someone. That alone got me excited! 04-jawdrop

They can add premium seating with padded chairbacks above the benchback seats and keep everything else the same.

Until the West side starts selling our OR they renovate the thing to not make it look seem like your getting a hotdog in a highschool gym hallway they can not charge more.

We probably wouldn't be bussing 1300+ students if the trip was from ct to az, but I agree it still looks good on paper.

It's supply and demand. They can't really charge more until they start filling what they have.

Honestly if we make it next year I will find a way to go. I just can't now because I just moved into my new house without selling my old house and there are a ton of expenses...on top of that I have 3 little ones to feed and all that.
