O/T: Is the Big East About to Crumble
Ala the USSR in 1991?
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/...ources-say
Seems the 7 Catholic hoop schools will leave shortly?
If so do they add: Xavier, Dayton, Creighton, St. Louis?
What happens with the current BE FB members who would be without a home?
E.g., Temple, USF, UConn, and Cincy?
Temple (back) to MAC?
USF to C-USA?
UConn as an independent and then to B1G?
Cincy?
And the MWC doesn't get raided by the monstrous Sea-to-Shining-Sea Big East.
Then does the MAC try to push (or is pull the word) Temple and UMass into all sports????

RE: O/T: Is the Big East About to Crumble
It's all about alignments to control the money and get more of it. Some of these schools are just not $exy enough to the big money conferences. One thing I hate about big time college athletics - money has destroyed what once made it great.
The Big 10, SEC, PAC 10, etc are too rich. It hurts all of the other schools that can't keep up and tips the competitive table in favor of the big boys. Then they can pat themselves on the back, say "look how good we are", control the media, and ask for more money.
The Ivy League, GLIAC, and even the MAC are much closer to being pure college athletics. Anyone see the Army-Navy game? That was how it should be. Good competition, no trash-talking, no tattooed loaded players, and great atmosphere.
I think I'm starting to show my age.

Maybe the BE survives by becoming a smaller regional conference, ie the MAC. Maybe they invite UCF, JMU, UMASS, UNH, Deleware, Mashall, etc. Who knows. If they think that they are still a big time conference, they will collapse. If they come back to reality they will probably see that this is the only way they will survive
