RE: New Big East TV Deal could be as low as $40 Million ($1.85 Million) per team
I feel so bad as a fan of Big East basketball. The Big East was an amazing basketball conference that has been broken apart all in the name of football.

Now that we have 800 teams in each conference, it doesn't make as much sense. We wouldn't get the benefit of playing UNLV/UNM/etc. in basketball, and the only football game that would matter would be a championship of the two leagues. I wish the Big East and MWC would just form two large conferences that made geographical sense at this point. If you want to play a football championship game, by all means do so. If you want some sort of MWC/Big East Challenge, do it.(I still think it would make the most sense to do these games as tournaments... take 1-3 in the prior season and have them play a round robin in location a, then take 4-6 and have them play in location b, etc. That would at least give the conferences some decent games against one another and limit travel) But much past that, I don't see anything making a whole lot of sense.
The NCAA shot down a championship game between conferences. But this could work(someone proposed this earlier):
For this example say the two conferences are CUSA and MWC:
...each team schedules 12 games w/12th week being other conference team X
...the twelfth game would based on conference rankings:
...--- #1 vs #1, #2 vs #2, #3 vs #3, etc
...home/away teams would alternate every year so teams & fans would know whether the final game is home or away just not the opponent
...--- CUSA #1,3,5,7,etc at home in odd years; others home otherwise
...with this scenario the conference champion would be determined by league ranking, not championship game; game vs other conference would be during championship game week;

The 12th game wouldn't work out perfectly for the home game thing. If you base it off of standings, you are going to wind up with 2 teams that played away games scheduled to play each other at some point.

One "division" gets the home game one year & the other the next.

Selfishly, all non-AQ teams should be hoping the BE fails because there would be fewer mouths to feed from the projected $87M/year non-AQ conference will split under the noe playoff system. Instead of dividing 5(or 6) ways it would be 4(or 5) ways. Even better would be BE non-AQ teams being redistributed to AQ conferences(ACC most probable candidate) so that each team's share within the conference would be greater also. I mean since realignment is all about money...
Of course, the payout formula could be adjusted to push the "additional" monies from a missing non-AQ conference upward to the AQ schools.

Also, now that "Group of Five" shares same pot, there's every incentive to cannibalize each other, eliminate one and become "Group of Four"

I am quickly becoming to hate college football more and more each day.
I'll still be a UAB fan and now amount of "you have to like the big boys" will make me. I thought it was about "tradition and pagentry", whatever
