Monken's at Work Already
Per Football Scoop:

Missouri co-offensive line coach Josh Henson has been offered offensive coordinator spot by Todd Monken according to Dave Matter of the Columbia Tribune. Update> Sources tell us Henson will join Todd Monken's staff.

Sources tell us to look for Louisiana Tech offensive line coach Pete Perot to join Todd Monken's staff at Southern Miss in the same capacity.

Sources tell us that John Wozniak will join Todd Monken's staff as special teams / outside receivers. Wozniak has been working with Alabama in an off the field capacity and previously held positions at UAB, Memphis, Georgia Southern, LSU, Oklahoma State, etc...

My downfall is I know nothing of these guys.

Perot is great coach and has great work ethic. Anyone who can coach O-Line for Dooley (ground and pound) and then Franklin (shotgun spread) has got the ability to give a coach what they want, imo.

Well one thing him and EJ have in common-- they both have done some offensive hiring... Just Monken's is the right kind of offensive.

Perot coached the OL at USM during the 1997-99 seasons. I believe that was year 2 of the USM dominant streak that started with the 1996 team that went 8-3 and lost to Houston in defacto championship game (not enough teams to have c-ship game and we tied conference records). Perot came in along with Kueck (spelling might be wrong) who was at Marshall for several years. Great OL all 3 years he was here....in fact we only lost 1 C-USA game while he was here and that was Tulane's perfect 1998 season. GREAT HIRE IMO!!

Think you might be reading a bit too much into that, but I hope you're wrong.

Perot is well-regarded.
Looks like the beginnings of a top notch staff to me.

Defense is the question. Really interested to see where he goes on that one.

You never know. The general looked pleased and Monken looked like he had a fire in him to win.

Don't you guys lose all 5 of your O line starters?

Congrats on the hires. Good to see USM back on track! We need you guys to be successful. Last year was a minor blip.

4 I believe. TM has a tall task in front of him. EJ did more damage than most non-USM fans realize.

RE: Monken's at Work Already
You're right Shifty.

I think recruiting is going to be tougher than normal. Hopefully TM will have tons of connections in the high schools where he recruited at when he was at LSU and La Tech that'll help him out.

I think the fanbase is going to be another issue. After the Ellis Johnson cluster**** of 2012, I feel many fans are leery of possibly making the drive to Hattiesburg to support the team. If I'm still local I'm going to try to make it to the opening game at the Rock. But Monken is going to have a task in front of him to fire the fanbase back up.

Those are the two issues I see in front of him. He's going to be expected to win right off the bat to compensate for last season.
