DeMarcus Cousins hits O.J. Mayo in groin; Mayo slams DMC’s ‘mental issues’ (VIDEO)

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-d...--nba.html

And to think that if Big Cuz had come to UAB (yeah right), stayed four years (yeah right), didn't flunk out (double yeah right), and stayed out of trouble (infinity yeah right), he'd be a senior this year.

The only posting there would been is bail.

I loved Mayo's quotes (he is an example of someone had maturity problems but has matured with age.

Quote:"Man, I was so pissed," Mayo said [...]. "It's just, where does that come in in the game, you know what I mean? He's a talented player, has a chance to be an All-Star. But you do stuff like that, it takes you down a class." [...]
Mayo considers the incident to be an example of what is preventing Cousins, who was suspended two games earlier this season because of a postgame confrontation with San Antonio Spurs broadcaster Sean Elliott, from achieving his potential.
"That guy has some mental issues, man," Mayo said. "He's a talented player. He has an opportunity to be the face of that organization, but I don't think he wants it. ...
"He's immature, man. Big maturity problem. Hopefully, he'll grow up out of it and become great. He definitely has the talent to."

Way to tell it like it is. Something Calipari never did

Just for fun -- If UAB had accepted the NLOI "out clause" as Cousins asked, would he have ever actually played for UAB? If he played one year and was done, what players might have been on that team with him? If, as some suspected, Coach Davis was shopping him and himself to other jobs, who might UAB have hired as a replacement coach about 4 years before we chose to do so?

I actually knew and coached against Cousins from 6-9th. Too many people telling him everyting he does is wonderfull and no real discipline offered, sought or accepted. I pray for this kid who could be mentioned as one of the great players from Bham...but I fear will end up being a coulda, woulda, shoulda

My guess is Cousins would never have qualified at UAB.

My guess is that he didn't qualify at UK either. He got in, and stayed eligible... which is a different thing entirely.

One un named coach stated that it would take an act of God to get him eligible. Then a miracle happened at Kentucky.

We will probably never know all the crap he got away with at Kentucky. We are expected to believe he cleaned up his act for the short time he was there. Calipari was effective at Memphis in making sure things didn't come to light, and I am sure it was easy to coverup at Kentucky too

All these one & done kids have to do is be eligible for one semester. Them pretending to go to college is a sham.

Having a "weight training" class, freshman/university 101, swimming, and underwater basketweaving really helps out that first semester GPA.

When did UAB add Underwater Basketweaving?

We all know what happens in that 1 semester that they have to "attend".

The bigger issue is that they really weren't qualified to be in school in the first place & were allowed in.

Calipari is an NBA D-league coach, and the NCAA should do somethig about it, but they won't.

& Vitale turns a blind eye to it, when in other cases he would be openly objecting.
