That said I don't believe my beloved Herd will ever move up. We are screwed due to lack of TV viewers. What a way to go. Please don't bring up Boise their MSA (616,561) is over 2 times ours (287,702). Southern Miss is even worse off their's is (143,093).
If the former BCS schools have their way the teams that are leaving won't be any better off than the rest of us soon. If they go to 4 super conferences we might as well be considered 1AA.
As a Marshall fan, I'm not necessarily concerned about whether the Herd will ever "move up". I just want to see my school in a conference along side other schools with which I feel a connection. ECU was one of those schools, and I'm sad to see them away. Marshall will never be BCS AQ. I would say that will be the case for the vast majority of the CUSA schools.
That said, the Big East reminds me of the housing bubble. There was a brief time where the value of the conference ballooned, and it seems as though that bubble might be starting to pop now. It's unfortunate (at least to me) that ECU will be caught right in the middle of it, as I really hate to see bad things happen to them. (I realize that may put me in the minority these days)
Unfortunately, every school that has moved in this round (whether it be Boise St, WVU, all of the CUSA schools that have jumped, or anyone else) has caused this. It's a particularly sad situation because there were only a few teams that "won" in the mix. Those that moved into the AQ conferences are able to look down at the rest of us as we struggle and deal with the fallout.
Make no mistake, the majority of us lost in this exchange, whether our school moved or not. That's what makes all of this bickering petty and pointless.
Yep, it's just a sad situation across the board.
