Mike Houston wants to get a foot in the door for those 757 recruits!
Seriously though, this is a great match-up and could be a great rivalry in the future.

So our 2024 OOC schedule is now Home with VT and ECU and Away at USC. Love the scheduling philosophy. Will definitely help with recruiting.

That tweet is not entirely correct. It should read “Old Dominion has added an away game in 2024 vs. South Carolina.”

They’re paying us $1.5 million. Great job, Bruce!

Big money. Maybe a TV game. I guess the benefits outweigh the likely loss. Do you guys think playing SoCar and VT regular season, likely losing and not bowling is better than playing say Ga. St and Miami Ohio and going bowling? Im of the mindset to try to keep it to one P5 game per year, to keep the records good and fans coming.

I believe South Carolina lost to App. St. last year. Should we not strive to be as good or better than App. State year in and year out? I would think South Carolina is the type of team ODU should want to play and beat. Take their money and kick their butt. My 2 cents.

Can't win the pay game if you don't take the pay game. I don't want to be the next Idaho but we crave the exposure and we could certainly use the money.

Gonna be a lot easier to increase the assistant salary pool and the recruiting budget with games like this.

Love it. A lot of us will drive there and SEC Network will carry it as well. And our schedule will continue to stand out in our local environment. Win-Win-Win.

With UConn canceling their season, we’re officially down to just 1 non-conference game this season. And it’s probably just a matter of time before we officially lose that one.

JMU will cancel as soon as the FCS playoffs are canceled. Has WM made a determination yet either? Its a shame about Wake. They should make it a milage determination rather than by state. Being so close to the state line takes a lot of close options off the table. ECU is closer than UVA for example. NC State, Maryland and UNC are closer than VT. That said, we'd get creamed, but I wouldnt mind playing LU, UVA and VT if it comes down to that. UVA in Norfolk, VT on the road, and maybe find a neutral location for an LU matchup (maybe URs stadium?)

UConn was scheduled to play UVA as well as us. How about two UVA games?
