You know, everyone thinks of Marshall as a passing team, but they ran the ball more than they threw it. (by 50+ runs)

RE: ODU Football Future OOC Schedules

Not really wild about playing Marshall up in the mountains the end of November. Weather can be really bad and not too good for a team that passes alot.

You mean like Marshall?

No, we are the passing team or at least we have been the passing team. I prefer to pass in good conditions not in some valley in the middle of the mountains the end of november. I drove back from Huntington WV to Richmond during a major snowstorm. However, sometimes that is where the schedule sends you.

It'll happen, just hoping that we can adapt. Certainly an opportunity for the RBs to shine. And hell, why not bring out that triple-option kryptonite and swing it around when it's too messy to pass?

That's a frontloaded conference schedule. 4 out of first 5 conference games against bowl eligible teams.

According to the chat with Bobby Wilder and Harry today, sounds like a home and home series is in the works for ODU and UVA in the future. This is great news. Would be exciting to play Tech and UVA at home in alternating years.

All of these games can be tough! After all, we only won one FBS game last year! And ended up being ranked at 100! I had just wished our conference mates had scheduled us in the first transition year! You can't really count ECU because they are moving not up; just out of conference!

We only won 1 FBS game because we only played 5. 3 against ACC teams and one against one of the most consistently good "mid-majors" out there. If we were ranked 100 at the end of the year that means we beat out 26 other teams with much more experience.

Found on cbssports.com/collegefootballrankings, some schools from CUSA, Tulsa, UTEP, UAB, FIU, & Southern Mississippi. This gives hope for a bright fb future. And for locals, the boowhos are lower than us!

2013:
Campbell Nov. 16

2015:
@ Eastern Michigan Sept. 5
Norfolk State Sept. 12
NC State Sept. 19
App. State Sept. 26

2016:

2020:

2021:
None scheduled

What????
Cambell in 2013 and App state twice in 2015 & 16. I guess you had enough of GSU but you can still get those beatings on your future open dates. I'm sure a home and home would be possible.05-stirthepot

I'm thinking the game @ Rice should be 9/20 and not 9/22.

ODU turned down request from ESPN to play Alabama

NORFOLK excerpt

Alabama and ESPN officials reached out to Old Dominion athletic director Wood Selig recently, asking if ODU would be interested in playing the Crimson Tide football team in 2015 in the 102,000-seat Bryant-Denny Stadium. If so, we’ll write you a check for a cool $1.3 million.

But Selig said no, saying ODU’s schedule is full
.

Selig said the first feeler about playing Alabama came from ESPN officials.

“ESPN is one of the biggest brokers of games,” Selig said. “They are constantly trying to move people around in order to set up attractive games to broadcast.

ODU needs three non-conferences games in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The Monarchs play at Appalachian State in 2016, at Virginia Tech in 2017 and then host the Hokies in 2018. The Monarchs need two games in 2019, when they host Idaho and play at Virginia Tech. They have no non-conference games scheduled the following four seasons, from 2020 through 2023.
