Not sure how I'd feel about Skip Holtz

Tech will be fine and they search group is just trying to interview as many coaches as possible before making a decision. There is a lot of interest in the job and we are willing pay in the 7 figure range and pay the assistants well too. Franklin was making over 300k last year.

I think Skip would be a good fit for La. Tech. He needs to go back to a place that's passionate about football. USF didn't have that type of atmosphere.

Good exposure and usually a fundamentally sound team. Don't expect fireworks, but don't expect a disaster either. Daddy will be pimping you all over espn and it's good publicity. However, in the event of a little success, get ready to hear his name mentioned for every freakin' opening out there.

His resume doesn't look nearly as good as it did before the USF job. At this point, he's a risky hire.... not for Tech, but for the bigger schools. I don't think Tech could do much better than Holtz, unless we got lucky with some up-and-comer with no experience who works out great (like Sonny Dykes did).

How good were your defenses when he was the coach?

They were really good but the DC they had then is at FSU now.

"• Hudson's ECU defenses earned a reputation for turning over opponents, coming up with 145 takeaways in five seasons - an average of 29 per season - which ranks among the top 10 of all FBS programs in that stretch

• The Pirates finished in the top 10 nationally in four defensive categories in 2009 - fumbles recovered (3rd, 17), red zone defense (7th, 0.71 pct), turnovers gained (4th, 34) and turnover margin (10th, +0.79). They also led CUSA in scoring defense (21.93) and turnover margin.

• In 2008, Hudson's ECU defense led CUSA in total defense and scoring defense, despite losing several key players to injury. He earned national recognition for his work when the Pirates shut down No. 8 West Virginia's spread offense, led by quarterback Pat White, in a 24-3 victory. ECU also defeated eventual ACC champion Virginia Tech to open the 2008 season."

Tech beat Houston Nutt 27-7 last year and he had the more talented players. I don't think he will be considered.

Ups;
Holtz's teams have sound fundamentals.
He is a likeable guy for TV.

Downs;
His offense is boring as hell.
His good defenses were due to our DC, probably not Holtz.

Nutt is a great Destroyer! He can destroy any program.
Glad tech will stay clear of him

Brian Polian, ST coach @ A&M is now a serious candidate

He was the guy who recruited Te'o to Notre Dame
