Not a surprise. With the costs and availability to see kust about any game you want on tv or the internet(especially when you have a ginormous tv) and increased competition for those limited dollars, it is not at all surprising.

It is a big problem...NFL attendance is also down.

This is all related to the economy.

And big time sports can't complain much, the TV contracts are HUGE.

It also reminds me of the music/movie industry....those industries refused to admit their product could easily be stolen and didn't adjust their prices or ways of doing business and lost big money for a long time (especially the music industry). Sports will have to up the ante and/or lower prices or make it easier to attend.

Its easy/cheap to attend a game at Huskie Stadium.

Our problem is awareness that we are a D1 team playing all but 1 other D1 FBS teams.

I was just talking with an Iowa coworker, who was at both of the SF games and he was confused on our OB bid because he thought we were D2 or D3.

Depends who you are talking to. Someone who is unemployed or works a menial job due to the economy, $20 a ticket and travel costs might be cost prohibitive. Now, I am not saying that there are a lot of those around but there certainly could be enough to make a 1-2000 a game difference.

I wasn't criticizing NIU's prices or ease of access, I was being more general.

Unemployed people have other things to worry about than going to Huskie Stadium.

Who the heck goes to a single game and pays $20ea for a ticket? Heck Kansas tickets were $10 and you can easily park in the garage for free if you don't mind walking.

He was confused because it was earned by a successful season and not a gift to go to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl because people in Iowa will gladly vacate their state for any reason.

anyone who does not know we are D1, is not a serious fan and would probably never go to a game anyway.

Really? Because I didn't know that we were D1 until my Sophomore year when I saw a flyer about going to watch us play Northwestern...and I went to every single home game my Freshman year.
