We were all either "southern schools" or that "truck driving school." I don't think that they ever even fully realized SDSU was a member, or they just ignored the fact.
Hybrid conferences are doomed to eventual failure. There aren't enough common goals for disparate programs to co-exist.
In the end, the only winners in all of this will be the BE schools that managed to get into one of the Big Five conferences. Everyone left out will simply be SOL and will eventually come to realize this.
"SOL" regarding expected income is true.
"SOL" regarding competitive conference home is TBD. There are a lot of possibilities; some fairly reasonably attractive and some not.
One thing is for certain.....anyone in or out of the dissolving conference that says they have all of the answers......they obviously know less than anyone and just don't realize it.
Exactly. Much to be determined---even income. I think the income front will be better than most believe. Its not going to be any ridiculous amount, ACC money aint happening. But I think it will a nice bump--probably 5-6 million a school.
if $5-6M was true then the C7 wouldn't have left
Thats all sports--the basketball schools would not have made that much. Plus, what part of they did not want to play us newbies do you find confusing? Let me explain it again, they will likley make 2-3 million on their own and they wont mess up thier RPI by playing us or have to travel as far. They were not crazy about the earlier football schools, they certainly wanted little to do with us unless the money was crazy better--it wasnt. It was about what they would get on their own--so they split.

It has less to do with their RPI than it does with their outdated and hopelessly overinflated sense of their own importance.

Above was probably about football only and/or all-sports.
There isn't much TV $$$$ toward regular season basketball contracts/coverage...as most of all conf TV $$$$ are tied up with FOOTBALL.
95% of all College Basketball TV $$$$ are "owned" by the NCAA for just the 3 weeks of March Madness...while the rest are individual tv contracts signed by conferences....who's own conf get a super majority of the $$$$ for just football.
