Terrible journalism.

Some of the drop can be due to TDs economy( tix at some schools are out of hand.), some to TV deals that are driving the chaos with realignment(not really realignment itself YET).
Either way it is a double edged sword for UAB. On one hand you can point to low attendance at other schools and say ours isn't that bad. On the other hand, haters will use this as further fuel to say UAB doesn't need a stadium because attendance numbers are trending down nationally and ours are bad to begin with.

And in a suprising coincidence, The Birmingham News' readership is at an all time low also.

UABs new on campus stadium WOULD provide a 100% increase in attendance and, ultimately, pave the way
for a substantial improvement in the win/loss column.

I stopped watching all college football except games that involve my school quite a few years ago b/c of the stupid BCS system. Maybe others are joining me.

Ticket prices and simply just bad products on the field have helped hurt attendance. Tennessee, Penn State, Auburn, Arkansas, and a few others who usually have sellout crowds have failed to have many this season. Add the fact tickets prices are sky high now. There once was a time when you could take the whole family to watch a game, now you're looking at tickets being $90.00+ for a single ticket and that is darn near impossible for an entire family to afford.

Agreed. With an unlimited supply theoretically, I would like to see some breakeven analyses regarding ticket prices. How low can we go without hurting revenues? Family 4-packs for $40, etc, should be part of the repertoire. I didn't see any special deals this year.
