Saw this on Deadspin with the typical hyperbolic headline that called it the "worst ever" and that "it could never be matched." I clicked with skepticism that it was really that bad. But, for once, Deadspin's hyperbole machine may have undersold it. I would argue that shot is in the "Top 10 Worst Attempts to Execute the Most Routine Athletic Plays By Allegedly Skilled Participants." It's comparable to a kicker completely whiffing on an extra point or a catcher throwing the ball back to the pitcher and sending it into the first base dugout. I always felt like Bartow Arena owed us all helmets every time Frank Holmes went to the free throw line, but this shot makes him look like Jimmy Chitwood.

Dude wasn't THAT bad. He had a better free throw percentage than Reggie Huffman, Walter Sharp, and Jeremy Mayfield.

UNITE might be the worst thing ESPN has ever put out...and that's a long list of things to be worse than.
Just a little bit of an argument there...When ESPN decided to broadcast poker, IMO, it got no worse than that. For what it's worth, it was by happenstance, I'm not a "UNITE" fan, either. Don't go out of my way to watch it. I do like their TV trailer, though.

Matrix, I agree with you wholeheartedly regarding the broadcasts of poker. The spelling bee broadcasts have to be down there as well.

I've actually enjoyed the World Series of Poker, the spelling bee, the DCI Competitions, and the Magic the Gathering broadcasts...merely for the sake of it being something different.
Unite is a joke of a show and is not even remotely entertaining, funny, or educational.
@Demiveweiser: Got nothing for it(UNITE) myself, holds little to no interest for me..But neither does watching a bunch of people play cards on TV, either, I fly to the next channel to avoid seeing their "poker faces", I can see those on any TV Western, far more entertaining than these folks.
Spelling Bees? Love them, great for the kids. Spelling was one of my favorite things to do when I was in grade school, real confidence booster for me, being one of the better spellers among the student body at that time, we used to have them all the time in 6th grade. The greatest part is their expressions of relief when they know they've gotten the word right or when they flat out win the damn thing. Very heartwarming for me to witness a young person triumph in something constructive and look in sheer amazement at it all. It is incomparable.

Regarding the spelling bee, I agree with everything you stated. Regarding it being on ESPN, we disagree.
