What you guys fail to understand is that the MAC already said they would cover any shortfall for the bowl game.. so by paying less through stub hub, niu hasf is going to get an extra $750 this year. As opposed to getting the same amount as last year. So niu comes out ahead since the mac conference is bailing us out in the bowl game
So, none of us should buy through NIU? We should all buy from StubHub?
That'll look great on national TV when all the NIU sections are empty.
Bob, you have my utmost respect, but I don't think that's what he's saying. He is planning to increase his donation with money saved by using stubhub. If we were all in a position to do that, I bet the university would encourage us to. They are getting reimbursed by the MAC and a few gaps in the stands are probably worth the extra donation.
I bought on stubhub myself. Here are my reasons...
1) NIU will not be taking a loss thanks to the MAC
2) At $75, I'm pretty much stuck behind the endzone or in the corner. NO price level
guarantees I'll be any better than the goal line and my loyalty score is low or nonesistent as I have not been able to donate for a couple years. This is my dad's first away game and I don't want him to fly all the way down there to be stuck in the corner.
3) I was able to get section 414, on the 40 yard line, for $35. Half of this section is already part of the NIU block, so I'm likely to be with or very near my fellow Huskies.
4) The NIU section isn't doing too bad. According to the news article about
Dudeland, NIU got 3,000 ticket requests in the first 48 hours, and may even be on track to fill the allotment.
Hats off to you Bob, and all the others who went through NIU. It just didn't seem to make sense in my situation.
