About the early tipoff - EDUCATION DAY: Friday marks the second annual Education Day game for ODU women's basketball. Brought in by head coach Karen Barefoot last season, thousands of kids from local elementary schools pour into the Ted Constant Conovcation Center to cheer on the Lady Monarchs.

I can't imagine there'll be a large size of (adult) fans for this one. NCCU still hasn't won a game this year (0-9) and average 39 points a game, so unless the Lady Monarchs mess up big time, they should roll over the Eagles and go to 6-1.

Wow an 11am tipoff? But I like the idea of bringing in the kids to see the Ted and the University. This helps for future students and maybe future Lady Monarchs!!

With one of the best D's in the country, NC Central may not be able to put up many points at all.

And it might. I was going to go to the game tonight but the change from 7 to 9 makes it not possible.

I was wondering what was up with the early start but this is a great idea to get the community involved. I'm sure she's helping create a couple lifelong Monarchs today.

I argued with my best friend all season last year, defending the KB hire and the direction of the program. Not that his points about the dismissal (because that's what it really was) of Wendy Larry weren't valid, but I saw a lot of good things in this new program. Recruiting, play style, etc., all signs of a program poised to move forward with the evolving game of basketball. And what I saw last year in spurts is manifesting itself in a big way this year. Good for KB, and good for the Lady Monarchs.

Oh yeah, and we still aren't at full strength. Gardner and Brandao will be eligible soon :)

Looks like the Lady Monarchs are poised to put NC Central away. Good to see an ODU basketball team take a blowout victory at the TED. Maybe they'll leave some energy on the court for the men's team...

Vegas awaits.

I was listening to the game during lunch and I could hear the kids without a problem. I had flash backs to my pep band days when they did that promo.....the screaming...the high pitch screaming!!!!

I may not sleep well tonight.

A win is a win and a win is a good thing but that was some ugly basketball. Nearly 50 turnovers combining both sides. Maybe it was the 3,000 screeching kids affecting the passing lanes.

Not a fan of having both teams in game 1 getting into the semifinals, although Notre Dame should win the whole thing regardless. We really can not afford a loss to UNLV and then face Alabama A&M.

I didn't even notice that. It will be an uphill battle regardless, but yes UNLV is an absolute must win. The rest will be interesting to watch.
