Well, I've been lead to believe by an excellent source that a plan for major bucks to do work on Nippert is winding it's way through the upper echelons of UC and I think they can free up enough spare change to up the salary, so based on your thoughts, I guess he's staying.

Regardless of whether Butch bails or not, the facilities project needs to happen. We then need to spend the money and get a serious coach (not a former HS coach/position coach, not a 32 year old MAC coach, etc.).

Yeah, and that is never going to happen. I'll take the Big East we signed up for in a heart beat.

That would be awesome. Have a poker table with Mick, the Bearcat, Butch and Ono. Butch should be sitting with a mass of c paw chips, sunglasses, and a cigar in his mouth. And as it starts, he moves the pile onto a big C paw, and says "I'm all in for the C." Ono is sitting next to him in a Bearcat sweatsuit like the little Asian dude from the Hangover and stands up and says, "that's right, CBJ is all in! Take that colorado biiitches! And we fixin the Nip too! Hear that ACC?? You watchin this? Call us biiitches!" Then they all get up and walk off.

Wonder how our whiny media would like that.

So, at this point is it fair to say that whichever way Butch decides, he has pissed off fans on both sides?

I know if he decides to stay I won't be happy with how this was handled and have lost a LOT of respect for CBJ in the process. Sounds like the CU fans feel the same with all of the delays and denials.

I didn't think this kind of situation could be handled any worse that BK did. I stand corrected. Congrats Butch (and handlers) you have really lowered the bar.

I'm not mad at him if his flirtation with CU drags UC into the 21st century in terms of facilities/Nippert improvements.

any thoughts as to whether Butch is just sitting back trying to decide or whether this is stall time for more realistic firm ideas to be gathered... I know you should have this done, but it has to take time coordinating with people for big financial backing for facilities.

I dont think it's about breaking the salary bank. I think he wants things to move the program forward and the conference issue is a big one (he's said as much). So he's going to want things that help on that front and that's about facilities, Nippert to be exact and not about simply salary. That would have even easily sorted and figured out by now.

Just curious what do you think it's about?

Why does the guy have his wife go with him...pictures which look like they are taken with the same camera at weird angles like the paparazi are after him? i personally think butch wants to be here for a long time and this is his shot to make it happen. If he wanted to go to cu he would be there. The leaks are from his agent to the Denver post. If not they have really f'ed this whole thing up

I think this is spot on. Just can't figure out why there'd be a two going on three day delay in simply accepting and going to CU. makes no sense. Only logical conclusion is he'd prefer to stay here if certain conditions are met and he's waiting to see if that does.

I'm with you guys on this (certainly compared to most of the over-the-top reactions populating this board.)

Some say history repeats itself. I see elements of the original Huggins (Heat?) situation where his head might be telling him to jump while his heart says stay.

Towards your posts, I also see elements of pre-ND BK situation (and I wouldn't be shocked if BK gave him some tips per the talk out of Colorado). I think BK figured out pretty quickly that this BOT is not in the habit of coming up with an big vision and executing to it. Left to their own devices we'll still be debating what to do with Nippert 10 years from now. Nor is it in the habit of rewarding the loyal soldier (look at Mick). They will only act when their back is against the wall and the only way to do that is to let them know you aren't afraid to go to the market if they don't. And you have to be prepared to follow through if they don't. And tomorrow is put up or shut up time for UC (as much if not more about facilities than salary) and thus Butch...

Right on the money

No vision, just put a band aid on it strategy

Adding seats to Nippert is another band aid though. Not a long term solution. We have another 10 years as winning program we will have higher demand, still need bigger stadium, and be $70million poorer.

Need to lock up a coach and address a 50 year solution to stadium and arena
