From Dennis Dodd's twitter (re: ESPN/Big East)
Burke Magnus: ESPN Senior Vice President, College Sports Programming
Why is ESPN potentially still interested in the Big East? question to Magnus.
"It's not the same conference," Magnus only why bid to Big East won't be the same.
"There's content that we could see value in," Magnus re: Big East.
"Instability is bad for business," Burke Magnus re: ACC.
"Every move that has been made has cost our company money," Magnus on conf realignment.
From Kelly Whiteside:
So why would ESPN be even interested in a new deal w Big East? "We’re pretty much interested in everything," says ESPN's Burke Magnus

So nice to have people in the position of power substantiate a position you had weeks before.

Wasnt like anyone needed to state what was apparent to everyone.
At the same time, doesnt mean that the new CUSA is better or that we had much of a choice. CUSA is worse than it has ever been, why would we want to stay in that mess?

It is equally nice to know ESPN isn't the only bidder in this "property".
NBC still wants a college conference for its fledgling sports network and the Big East is the only game in town at the moment.
Will the winning bid be the $12-15mm we heard rumors of during the summer? NO. But it still could be between $8-10mm for the all sports teams.
Time will tell.
