Question for UNT folks
Are there any plans to add baseball with the move to C-USA?

What is going on in the state of Texas? I thought baseball would be a signature sport for most of these teams but saw in the facilities thread that two of the Texas schools (maybe UTSA and UTEP but I can't remember) didn't have baseball and now find out that UNT doesn't either at least not for now.

Although maybe not a revenue generating sport I would think with the baseball talent available and general interest in the sport in Texas that they could come close to breaking even.

UNT had a team at one time, 80's & early 90's. No on campus stadium so little interest. Fell victim to Title IX. There is currently an on campus stadium location in the master plan of our athletic village. A new football stadium was our main priority. With that now built, hopefully some news on baseball in the not too distant future

UTSA has baseball, but I don't think they have an on campus stadium? Or maybe the on-campus stadium was just a POS?

I know they have plans for a new one though.

RE: Question for UNT folks
I played college baseball for an NAIA school in TX in the early 90s. UTA had a really good baseball team back then. We never played them, but played Dallas Baptist, Northwoods, and a few other strong Dallas programs, so we were aware of UTA.

UTSA has an on campus nicknamed 'The Birdbath'. It only holds around 1000 people. For certain games (marquee matchups), they use Nelson Wolff Stadium (AA Ballpark).

Re: Question for UNT folks
Yes there are plans. Timing depends on fundraising, but they hope to begin 2015. Will have to be offset by women's equestrian or some other sport.
