As I said in another thread, if you gotta have a Sunbelt team, I think WKU may bring the most fans.

EMU needs a lot of credit for the 2012 MAC bowl game season.

We blew a game to CMU permitting them to get win #5 (UMass was #6).

We rolled over nicely for NIU allowing them to boost their post season resume.

I am glad all the MAC teams got in, but did the LCB really think CMU was the best pick?

Well if they had the pick of CMU and BG, it probably came down to attendance. BG isn't that far away, but the bowl officials probably looked at the record attendance of the Motor City Bowl in 2007 with CMU, and thought they would get a bigger crowd than the Falcons. Probably inflated because CMU was really good and Purdue travels well, but it's probably all they thought about.

What's that all about? All that aside - CMU's 5th win was over Miami(OH) - not EMU.

For attendance, yes, absolutely.

No other MAC school would bring the numbers CMU will get in Detroit in December. It's a no brainer. No other bowl was hoping NoILL would get the Orange bowl more than the LCB.

That's ok. LCB has to do what's best for them.

Should be a decent game..

Normally Chips fans travel well to Detroit but during a 6-6 season? what say you central Michigan folks? can you turn this into a home game?

There are more Chip students, Chip fans and Chip alums in Detroit that in Mt Pleasant. And since it'll be Christmas Break - it's a home game (not a campus game - but a home game). "Travel" will not be an issue.

What Nert said. I have already heard a fair number of CMU supporters planning to attend. 04-rock

Not a bad year for the LCB to get a Michigan MAC team. Lots of students from Detroit home on break. Alumni probably in town. Its a football game and a local team in it. Chance for CMU to finish 7-6 and have seven MAC teams with winning seasons

LCPB is a MAC bowl so CMU (and six other MAC teams) have 'first right of refusal' so to speak.

At the end, if LCPB tried to take another MAC team, say BG, because they are 'close', then CMU might have not been picked elsewhere and La Tech might have been for example got the bid that BG got (or other bowl shuffling).

I would have said SJSU vs. La. Tech, but the Military Bowl already made a deal with the MAC for a team.

That rule was dropped after only one season. In 2014 a similar rule would go into effect but my understanding is that only affects at-large spots.
