I hope thats right. I am not real happy going back to the same bowl.

I can't believe that a Sun Belt school, especially one who will be continuing with the conference, would turn down a bowl from one of our partners.

The Go Daddy bowl is not South Alabama and can make arrangements with other conferences. Or could select another school from the Belt in future years leaving you at home.

A trade: sure. Turning a conference bowl down because you're better than it: insane.

This also isn't how we as a conference attract other bowls.

FWIW the Go Daddy Bowl is well after the New Year giving almost three extra weeks of practice. Which no one else in the conference gets.

That's not how it went down. Arkansas State asked to be released conditioned upon a Liberty Bowl invite. No one is/was slamming Mobile the fact is that it is hard to take a fan base 8 hours to a site you went to the year before so our sales were likely going to be down and the rare opportunity to play the CUSA champ presented itself.

The GoDaddy knows how this game is played, they played it the same way when they took Troy despite not being tied to the Sun Belt.

RE: ULM TO INDEPENDENCE BOWL
Bowl teams are allowed 15 days of extra practice time between their last regular season game and the bowl game itself.

Nobody gets three extra weeks to practice over teams that play earlier bowl games. The only real advantage of the extra time is that it gives injured players more time to heal up for the bowl.

That and it allows the teams a full month to schedule the 15 practices in, rather than a situation where they may only have 3 weeks before their bowl, and has limited days we can give off. ASU managed to give everyone A few days off for Christmas last year. We still only had 15 practices

n fact the amount of time off may have been one of the reasons we looked so sloppy in the game.

Teams can practice as much as they want within the normal 20-hour a week rules. There is no 15 practice rule.
