You betcha, and there's not one thing wrong with that.

I'm under absolutely no obligation--legal, moral, or otherwise--to ride this thing all the way into the ditch if the wheels start to come off.

I'll make you a deal. I won't bother you about your money and you don't bother me about mine.

How dare people go to whichever country they feel gives them the best opportunity! I'm glad America has never accepted selfish people like that.

Sorry dipshit. But I take issue with Americans wanting to leave our country when they feel the times got to tough for them to make a little more money.

That's not anyone I want to call a true American.

Go right ahead and embrace them if you like.

And no I'm not talking about simply investing money in other countries. I'm talking about leaving for good as Owl claims he will do.

I repeat, I am under no obligation--patriotic, legal, ethical, moral, none--to stay here if this country is being driven off the cliff.

This country does have obligations to me--to honor my inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The latter includes private property rights and a reasonable opportunity to succeed. If this country fails to live up to its obligations to me, then staying anyway is not patriotic but idiotic.

I take issue with anyone who believes otherwise. Anyone who does feel otherwise is not someone that I could--or would want to--call a true American.

America was founded by people leaving their respective home countries for better opportunities abroad. You really can't get more American than being an individualist willing to move to whichever country offers you the most prosperity and freedom.

You know what places are called that deny people freedom, prosperity, and the right to leave? Prisons.

Yep. And we'd be much better off figuring out why people are leaving (or choosing another country instead of coming to America) and doing something about it, rather than antagonizing and vilifying those people.

Yes...moron...200+ years ago.

Owl was born here...I assume. He didn't leave anything to come here. And from his posts he's done quite well here in this prison.

It's not a prison now. If it starts to become one I'm outta here before they lock the gates rather than wait until it's too late. That isn't unpatriotic, it's un-stupid.

Wow, so we haven't had immigrants coming here seeking a better life for the last 200 years?

And the point, which clearly went completely over your head, is that now America is becoming a place people leave from to find better opportunities, not come to, so Owl's birthplace is completely irrelevant.

4 years ago the right wing echo chamber said that Obama was going to confiscate everyone's 401k's and take away their guns.

Again - is their a link that explains how this tax credit would work and who exactly is proposing it?
