After being on the fence for a while, this recent bout of expansion has made me realize we need to go back to the MWC.

I don't think it is that easy.

Let's see what ECU and Tulane have to pay in exit fees.

Then UTEP would forfeit their share of those exit fees and all of Memphis NCAA credits.

Then UTEP would have to pay an entrance fee to MWC.

Can we afford it?

I believe that if the boosters wanted to make the move, they (the boosters) would find the money to pay the fees...at least that is what I was led to believe from certain individuals on campus.

UTEP needs to go back to the rivals that made UTEP sports exciting.

MWC > CUSA at this point

I hope those boosters actually exist.

I could see BSU, SDSU and byu forming a new conference considering how bad the mwc tv deal is. BSU and SDSU are football only members of the big east. I can't see them being happy about the latest additions. Those three could cherry pick who would join.

I would hate to see UTEP pay exit fees and entrance fees to get into the mwc only to see key members depart for a new conference with the aforementioned three.

I've been on the MWC bandwagon since the addition of UTSA to CUSA. Of course, as mentioned above, those exit fees are the noose on UTEPs neck. The only thing we can hope for is if CUSA disbands or if those boosters decide to foot the bill. Either way, I don't like the current position of UTEP.

BSU, SDSU, BYU, AFA, UNM, Co St, UTEP, Rice, Fresno St., UNLV, and a couple more, and we are there.

Then let NMSU into CUSA. UTSA is going to the BIGXII anyway.

Boise St. San Diego St. and BYU are no longer in the MWC.

I hope UTEP ends up with the MWC schools plus one or two other CUSA west members but in the meantime, UTEP just needs to win football games regardless of who we are playing. String some winning seasons together, go to several consecutive bowl games even if they are small ones, get the fanbase jacked up and averaging over 40k per game like we did in Price's early years. Do all that and UTEP will be fine because we all know that with that 16th ranked basketball recruiting class coming in next year, UTEP is about to have some runs in the big dance. That will really set El Paso on fire fanwise.

I don't disagree. With the new CUSA having lesser opponents, UTEP football is bound to have better records and go to bowl games. The beauty of college football today is that everyone with a winning record goes to a bowl game.

Basketball is much different. Unfortunately, in a conference of lesser schools, it won't matter how well UTEP basketball does, their only chance of going to the big dance is to win the tournament.

I was totally against it.... Until now.

Marshall and UAB fans can relate to some of the new teams. Unfortunately, we and Tulsa can't do the same. We rarely heard of some of these teams, if at all.

UTSA's starter program is be our regional partner? And other than plagerism, I don't see much in common, nor shared history with them either.

Why would these teams want to join a new conference if it's just going to be made up of the same schools?

I heard Kappy referring to the rumor of UTEP/Tulsa going to the MWC.

Must be the one from the MWC board.

Come on over guys. If UTEP and Tulsa join the Mountain West we'll be the top non-power conference by the time the new postseason starts. While SDSU and BSU will get stuck flying across the country to play teams like Temple and UCF.

Also, UTEP and MW basketball is a perfect match. Wish you were already here for this season.
