RE: Time to shut the **** up
(11-27-2012 05:46 PM)adcorbett Wrote:  With these new additions, we need to lay some ground rules on all of this complaining. It has to stop. Not only because they are now part of the family, but simply put, most of you mother fukkers simply have no right to complain. Here’s why:

  • 1) If you are a fan of Louisville, Cincinnati, or Memphis, seeing as how we all founded not one, but two conferences with Tulane, we have no right to complain if they join us. We are not "too good" for them. We aren't quite in the STFU area, but we need to stop acting like we are too good for our brothers. Best case, we can look at them as sort of the underachieving cousin who you only see at Thanksgiving. You can complain a little, but know that they are family and accept it.

    2) If you are a Boise St fan, you have about the same rights as above. You were the star expansion candidate for the Big East in the latest round of expansion. But while the BE needed you, after having several impeccable seasons see you miss the BCS, you needed them to. That was why you agreed to join a league so far away. It is not quite the same league you agreed to join, but then again you are used to that. You were given input into on expansion candidate that no one else really wanted (at the time) as a favor to you. While you may have hoped for additional western teams, you were guaranteed nothing. The best western teams available, BYU and AFA said no. They tried, **** didn’t work out. Tulane not your favorite, I understand. The other 15 teams feel that way about Fresno. Basically, you agreed to join a conference where 10 of the 12 football playing members would be in the central or Eastern Time zone. You agreed to that. Stop bitching and shut the fukk up.

    3) If you are a fan of UCF, USF, SMU, or ECU, you need to remember that Tulane was a founding member school that invited YOU to Conference USA when you were suffering in a worse situation. Essentially you need to shut the fukk up.

    4) If you are a fan of Houston, your program falls in the gray area between 1 and 3 because they were sort of a founding member of C-USA and sort of added later, but not a founding member of the Metro. Either way, worst case scenario, see rule number 1. Not quite in the STFU area, not quite in the room to complain area, but none the less no room to gripe (especially when you consider where Houston was just a couple of years ago.

    5) If you are a San Diego St fan, I know you hate to hear this, but you rode Boise St's coattails into the BE. This does not diminish anything you have accomplished, but you would not have even been on the BE radar if not for Boise' request to have a western team come with them. As such, you need to shut the fukk up.

    6) If you are a Temple fan….Wait there are no Temple fans. But if there were, I’d just give you the people’s eyebrow if you even thought about complaining about someone else being added due to perceived lack of competitiveness. Actually you’d get the bat treatment. Needless to say, shut the fukk up.

    7) If you are an ECU fan (yes I already mentioned you, but you need it again), you have done nothing but ***** and moan about the Big East for the last 8 years, yet beg to get in at every turn. You are in now. You really need to shut the fukk up. Matter fact, I might even let those other teams that want to ***** about Tulane get in line Airplane style and beat the **** out of you. And you will take it or you don't get in. Also, shut the fukk up.

    8) If you are a fan of a Catholic school that does not play football, note that Tulane is the school most like you, only with a football team. Also most of you were in favor of this move so it is a moot point. However, if you are in disagreement, you can take your ball and go home. Oh and leave all of those basketball credits earned by Louisville, UConn, Syracuse, Pitt, WVU, and Cincy (yes you earned a few too). Otherwise, shut the fukk up.

    9) If you are a fan of Navy, well you are too classy to disparage another team like that. So this is a non-issue. Plus you are probably ex-military, and while I can handle myself, you are probably not someone who I voluntarily add myself to your **** list. Thus you can speak freely.

Basically the Big East right now is full of teams looking for someone else to carry the weight. The reason people assume the conference is going to ****, or that it is no longer relevant, is because you don’t feel that your school is good enough to carry the load (and this goes for fans of Louisville too). If you think your school is good, and can compete, than this **** does not matter. Boise used to pride themselves on this: what happened? Louisville too. Cincinnati always had a quiet “we don’t say ****, but look at our record” mentality. What happened to that? Now all of you fans are scared to be the big daddy? You think Tulane sucks? Good, that should be an easy W. Don’ like Memphis, think Navy is no good, and Temple is soft? Well you should have four easy victories. That is what the SEC, Pac 12, and SEC do. They have body bags and they have contenders. Think these schools suck and you are the ****? Good, you should have no problem going 10-2 every year, and your post seasons should be prosperous.

UofL fans already telling us what to do. How exciting to be back with them.

This is a vivid and accurate description of Tulane. And being in this league should provide even more pressure on our Administration to do just that.

And good stuff, adcorbett. I respect the trepidation re Tulane from BE members considering our dreadful W/L record the last several years.

I don't think they had a "vote" since they aren't members until 6-1-13, but you can bet they had a say and gave the okay from their end even if it wasn't a real vote for them.

I believe the date is actually 7-1-13, the day they actually join the conference.

Not sure I agree with any of those. Perhaps one of the Florida schools, but that's it. Tulane is not a homerun, but they aren't any worse than most of the other potential candidates. Especially those who could be full members.

Let's compare ODU with Tulane. Bigger market=ODU, better basketball ODU, better women's hoops ODU,.......Tulane has better baseball and football for the moment. That won't last long and they certaintly don't have better fan support.

As an ECU fan I know both programs very well and ODU is a much better athletic program imo, now and potentially.
