ACC/Big East/Big 12
Last Saturday, I asked about your preferances in conference allignment. My opinion has drastically changed since this time. Last week I thought our best option was to stay put in the current Big East. With all the developments surrounding the Rutgers move, it has become very apparent that the reconstituted league will contain zero teams that stand as a natural rival. I would hate to split away from Louisville our only geographic football rivalry. Consequently, our best scenarion in my opinion is to join an ACC conference that potentially contains Louisville, Pitt, VA tech, NC State, NC, FSU, Clemson, Va., Syracuse, Miami Fla, BC, GA tech. I know the BIG and big 12 will poach some of these teams, however, I would like to play the teams that are closer to our region. Games in Kansas and Iowa do not thrill me at all.
I believe that we would thrive in this type of set-up. Recruiting in FLa/Ga would improve. I would like to hear other's thoughts.

I agree 100%. If I could hand select a conference for UC, I'd want Louisville, Pittsburgh, WVA, Ga Tech, Va. Tech., Miami Fl, NC State, and probably Memphis just for B-ball. We may end up in a conference with most of those teams.

RE: ACC/Big East/Big 12
I don't care if it is the Big East or ACC but some combination of current members of both conferences or a merger is our best bet. I still prefer the Big East to the Big 12 conference at this point because I don't trust Texas and really don't want to be left with Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, TCU, and bunch of other heartland schools.
Cincinnati is either going to top dog in the Big East or one of the last members in a new ACC/East Coast Conference. Either way I think we strive and win. Yes, convincing our fans will be harder in a national Big East but winning that league every season and picking up the 6th BCS bid and NCAA tournament bids that go along with being the top program would help.

I want the ACC and from the looks of things this will probably end up being the case...granted, the ACC we go into will not be the same ACC that exists today but still....

RE: ACC/Big East/Big 12
The Big East is a shell of what it was when UC joined with the new additions — they are all nice teams but aside from Boise don't add anything to the gravitas of the conference.
With the championship format change, the Big East also does not have a seat at the table like the Big 5 do. The Big East will be fighting for table scraps and respectability. UC has been able to recruit better caliber recruits because of BCS AQ status. That is gone in the new Big East and will be used against UC in recruiting.
What good is it to be the big fish in a small pond? There's more room to grow in a big pond as long as you learn to swim with the fishes in the pond.
UC must abandon the Big East.

When all is said and done, however many years from now, I still think there will be the PAC16, Big10,SEC (both with 16), and the BEast/Big12/ACC will be divided between those three with the remaining schools forming the 4th power conference.
