How about that androgynous hipster courtside student photographer with the uncomfortably short khaki trenchcoat/ dress? How about that sentence?

Ken Pomeroy has Navy ranked 319 and Prairie View A&M 306.

Illinois State - 48.

Ouch!

Why? It was a bad game, yet UAB still found a way to win. The turnovers had been getting better, but last night they spiked again. It was an awful night shooting wise, yet the team found their way to the line and shot 75% from there. A loss would have been a disaster of the UT Martin mold, a win goes on the record, and if the team is 20-9 down the road, nobody is going to say hey they only beat Prairie View by 6.

I agree. Im now very concerned. I felt that this team could beat PV by at least 15 but we clearly didnt come to play in the 1st half. A win is a win so you have to take no matter how ugly it is.

PVAMU had the look of a good basketball team to me. I'd think they're the favorite to win the SWAC. Yes?

I'm worried, but then I'm worried every year.
In fact, UAB Sports just worries me. Period.

Yep. They were predicted in the off-season to win the conference.

Nor are there asterisks around it implying "they won, but it was ugly".

Yep. They were predicted in the off-season to win the conference.

They're also known to often cause high seeds trouble in the NCAA.

Folks need to get off the ledge. Don't be surprised if PVAMU is in the NCAAs.

That said we still are learning a new system and are still undersized. I don't suspect we will put it all together until end of February or March. (C-USA Tournament) I plan on enjoying the ride.

RE: BB Game tonight at Bartow
That was a good team we played last night, and as much as I hate to admit it, last years team may have lost this game by 10 or more.
Faz, who is more of a 4 then a 5 disrupted all night and is a present that had to be accounted for, he played like a player who is better suited facing the basket then with his back to the it.

The PV team had height at multiple postions, their focus was on Swing, since he was the one known scorer from last years team, and there was plenty of tape on him as a shooter.
PV was a physical team they pushed, elbowed, shoved, picked, kicked and in general created mayhem with their style of play, I was happy to see our team push, elbow, shove kick and create mayhem right back.

Swing, Williams, Purifoy,Tyler and Quincy have bought into the system, they played hard all night, this was a team effort, they contributed in ways the team will have too if we are to be successful.
Williams played hard and then harder... Well what else can you say, but Rod, wow oh wow, what a player.
I thought that the team played better after Quincy settled down with Terrence and Hoppy playing the 2, they were hard to guard with so many people with handles.

I see room for improvement, but even if this team was undefeated, I believe their would be room for improvement, but there is alot of positive to build on because this team played hard all night and unlike last year, I always believed this team was going to win.

RE: BB Game tonight at Bartow
KenPom has PV coming in 2nd place in the SWAC, one game behind (get ready, sit down) Texas Southern.

Texas Southern, Mike Davis' new team, is off to a poor start at 1-4. However, they have played a very difficult schedule so far. They lost a home game to Oakland, last night, by 2 points.

Texas Southern has two players at 5-9, that play a lot, and another at 6-0 that plays a lot as well.

They'll be better once someone finds Davis some ******* basketball players.

All I could say after that was - DAMN!!! Good thing it fell backwards instead of towards the court itself, I really thought that clock was going to come crashing down to the floor. A rather thunderous dunk, to say the least. The young man brought "the force" with him on that play.

Agreed. With all of that, actually. I'm usually pessimistic so that I can be pleasantly surprised with anything above mediocrity, but I thought Prairie View was pretty good. They had some good athletes, and they made shots. We should have beaten them by 10+, but it's certainly not a team we should have simply destroyed. And if we'd hit some of our wide open looks in the first half, it might not have been so close because they might have lost some energy. Their confidence clearly grew as the first half developed.

Prairie View has already played Texas Tech and TCU tight, so this is not one I think we should get too hung up on. There'll be plenty of opportunities for that after Middle Tennessee.

I agree. I'd be surprised if PVAMU's name isn't on an NCAA tournament bracket in March.
