People are freaking out, this is better than we had last week.
In terms of talent/marketability, we actually have a better TV package. The only blow in terms of conference payout is that ESPN will be more reluctant to commit to a huge amount, because there is a chance that the rainmakers will leave. A higher buyout, or a GOR would fix that, and we could get a substantially better deal than we have right now.
That said, I don't see Syracuse, Pitt, Clemson, FSU, Georgia Tech, Miami, UNC, VPI, or UVA agreeing to a higher buyout.
If RU and UMD don't deliver the NYC and D.C. markets respectively, then SU and UVA could be next in line, so they aren't going to vote for it. There is a chance that PSU will bring Pitt in one o ftheir places, so Pitt won't vote for it. FSU and Clemson will want to keep a departure to the Big XII as a viable option if things go south. Georgia Tech, Pitt (again), and Miami might feel the same way about the Big XII. Then VTech and UNC might will likely be hesitant to shut the wondow on a departure to the SEC.
NC ST could go either way. They have a shot at the SEC, but it is a long shot. So, I don't know if they would vote in favor of a higher exit fee or not.
WF, Duke, and BC are the only sure votes for it.
Personally, I like the ACC and hope that it holds together as is. The academics are great, and there is a ton of potential. The idea of getting steam rolled by giant midwestern public degree mill/football academies is just not appealing to me.
