I love conference realignment because it shows peoples true colors. Contracts and agreements mean nothing, money is the driving force behind EVERY decision, and values and standards are nonexistent.

I mean this as no offense to any of the universities listed above, but where are all the academic snobs who always played the oh so high and mighty “ACC will never accept a university that’s not ranked in the top 100” card?

IMO those folks still exist; however, since the ACC has grown from 7 teams to 14 13 and a half now there are those who disagree with this position. In particular, I think the big football-oriented schools think it's stupid to leave millions on the table and ruin your own strength of schedule just because you don't want to play ball with the "less-well-educated" children. (Whether the quality of education is truly better is another debate entirely)

Well I guess it is good for me that you aren't God... Hahaha did you learn all about conference realignment at FAU?

I always love how people bring up my school on here as if I am hiding it. I am the one putting it in my signature/avatar! Did you ever think of that?

I am realistic and know FAU isnt even fit for Conference USA at this time (although they could get there based on markets theory since they are in the 52nd or so biggest market separate from Dade with FIU). But if you met me face to face and talked about knowledge of this sport, you would probably lose. My dad's side of the family is split FSU/UF. Unless you think you can't be a college football fan until you get to the college age, then I am not going to drop my childhood team.

And before anyone brings up academics, I had a 3.8 with honors in HS. Dumber people have gotten into Pitt/Syracuse. My cousin went to Syracuse and went to the same HS with less impressive grades to say the least. FAU's business school that I went to was good.

And FYI to nz, Syracuse/Pitt never had a chance at the Big 10. That you even brought them up after putting my knowledge down on this topic is laughable to say the least.

Please Mark, don’t take my post as an indictment of the fans of the schools that are part of the ACC or the fans of the schools being rumored to be added. I just think it’s hypocritical that a unwritten standard is set (top 100 academically for its members) which personally I’m actually 100% fine with and applaud, but as soon as some $$$$$$ is on the table or a spot needs to be filled that flies out the window.

It’s more a knock on ALL major sports universities administrations, everywhere, not just the ACC.

Quite honestly... The picture is getting to be very clear; the FSU guys & Catdaddy were right when it comes to the ACC. JAN, I don't think we're being hypocritical, we just didn't understand how the conference worked just yet. Picking UConn over Louisville is definitely fixing a "football problem" w/ a "basketball solution". And that my friends is a problem.

RE: UConn to ACC as early as tomorrow
I redid an idea from earlier a little.

Coastal Atlantic
Miami ........ FSU
Duke ........ Wake
UNC ........ NCSU
VT ......... GT
UVA ........ Clemson

Pod A Pod B
Louisville ...... Cincy
BC .......... Cuse
UConn ...... Pitt

So you would play 9 games. The Atlantic and Coastal divisions would exchange pod A and pod B every two years and play everyone in the resulting division. You get a permanent rival in the division (or pod) opposite you (except in the case of VT and UVA with GT and Clemson, I think you could just alternate those). Then you play one other team in the division opposite you.

So the two pods would play everyone in the conference every four years. The two divisions would play everyone in the conference over 8 years.

So everyone has their rivals in their pods and doesn't have to worry about the issue of being too heavy in the north. The northern schools get to play each other without being relegated to a separate division.
