Now that the regular season is over...what (if any) were the differences you saw between the BE and CUSA football?

Team size and depth. Even Syracuse was better than the middle of the pack CUSA teams.

And the BE has the worst officials in college football.

Top to bottom the Big East is a much more bigger and physical league. As for team speed outside of WVU and Syracuse on defense it was about the same.

Also, Big East officials SUCK.

1. Fan interest is 10-fold better than CUSA.

2. When talking about upcoming opponents at work I don't have to explain that the BE is a Division I-A conference. Couldn't say the same thing about CUSA.

3. The entire league has a "us against the world" chip on it's shoulder. Alot like the early days of CUSA before politics killed that league and alienated programs like UL and USF.

4. Quality of play, particularly on defense is much better. Most teams run the ball better than most CUSA progams and have quality depth.

5. Short rebuilding cycles. This our first year in the BE but already you can see that even teams that are rebuilding are having success. WVU, USF and UCONN were all rebuilding but had varying degrees of success. UCONN got demolished by injuries otherwise they would have had a winning record.

6. Believe it or not: BE officials are way better than CUSA. Big East officials may suck but at leas they know the rules and don't go out of their way to screw the new kids on the block as was the case in CUSA

7. A lot more young talent on the field than CUSA. There are a lot of true and redshirt freshman that are going to be freaks by their junior year.

1.)Instant respect. I'm surrounded by SEC and Big Ten fans at work and when I mention the Big East they immediately give me respect now. Before, when UC was in C-USA, they talked down about the conference. But when I told them about the Big East the first thing they said was "Isn't West Virginia the power in there now?" And then they immediately started talking about Louisville, Pitt, Syracuse and even Connecticut. Instant visibility and respectability.

Dedication to becoming better: EVERYBODY in the conference has either top notch facilities or are putting money into upgrading their facilities.

Talent: Instantly the size, speed and depth of even the lower-tier Big East squads are outstanding.

Better scheduling: As soon as UC was invited to the Big East they immediately started getting matchups on the schedule against other high quality BCS schools (North Carolina State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Georgia).

Better coaching: The only reason Coach Dantonio left Ohio State was because Cincinnati was an Ohio school in a BCS conference. He compared the excitement surrounding Big East media day to the Big Ten. It's also easier to keep him and out assistant coaches.

Rebuilding: When you're down it's easier to get right back up because it's easier to recruit better talent. Cincinnati had a down year. In years past we would have been 2-9 and worrying about getting things turned around. This year we're 4-7 because we have some Big East quality players sprinkled here and there. That allowed us to beat the teams we should have beaten and not completely tank on the year.

I"m late on this topic I"ve been out of town. This conference is MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER top to bottom than CUSA. Its not a knock on CUSA just the truth. This conference is much much more physical for one and the overall speed and depth of the teams is 10 times better. We would of easily walked through CUSA this year even with the injuries we had, that should tell you how good of a league the big east is. Every game we played was a physical game. I will never ever in my life complain about CUSA officiating ever again. Its just ridiculous that the officiating in this conference kills drives and momentum in important games, this is just not a complain I have for UofL but I think every single team in this conference has had terrible calls. The officiating needs to be addressed seriously, I watched alot of college football this year and I've seen questionable calls in all conferences, but the big east went overboard on alot of the calls. Overall I've enjoyed the season and I can't wait until the start of next football season. Hopefully the officiating in hoops in not as blatant as some of the football calls I've witnessed this year.
