That's funny. The last time I saw Perry, he was almost perfect throwing it, if the receivers would have caught the balls that hit them in the hands.

Sure. Perfect throwing it on a few of the select plays he has proven he can run. He wants the team to learn and grow so we come into Spring at least knowing the systems. No matter the score, you don't reward the backup who requires you to use just a third of your playbook because he can't manage the effort to learn the playbook and can't reliably make the necessary throws on half the plays he does know.

Is the object to use all of your playbook and lose, or 1/3 of your playbook and win?

So, a fan in North Carolina knows what our players are learning on the practice field every day. 05-stirthepot

I seriously doubt any of the QBs know the whole playbook after only one full season with a new system. What if our QB misses spring practice because he's hurt. How does that help the team?

I think we have proven we only need a third of the playbook to win. Run left, run right, run up the middle. 05-stirthepot

Sure looked as if he had a grasp of it in the time he got against SELA earlier this year.

RE: Garrick makes it official
WHEN YOU LOSE 4?-9, it is not hard to figure that more than one or two players played poorly.

I have always heard that a defense tries to force an offense to become "one dementional". Take away that part of their attack most easily accomplished then deal with what's left. With "8 in the box" on many plays, Memphis was hardly subtle in what phase of our offense they wanted to elimiinate. They were obviously saying to UAB "You will have to beat us with your passing game, if you have one".

I don't have any idea why we played only one QB -- if only to give one a chance to see the defense from the sidelines for a series or two. If we (BT fans) knew Brown is struggling with injury, you can bet Memphis knew as well.

Also, once your team gets 3+ TDs down, you lose your FG capability since one TD + EP trumps two FGs and the time element for one FG drive also is about the same as one TD drive. Since a team averages getting to play with the ball about 4 to 6 times each half, it is imperative that they produce points if the other guys are doing it. If your team has 3 ways to score and 2 of them are successfully neutralized, you are "up the well-known creek without the paddle".

Well, Stache even said in the postgame that he thought we would just turn it on and come back and win the game. It's not just as simple as showing up, and that's something he's really had to learn this year. I'm pretty sure he had already assumed we would beat Troy. It didn't take long to look up and see 17-0 on the board. In every non-SELA game we've played except for Marshall, we have dug a deep first half hole. The staff is good at making adjustments, but we have to start games better. Had we not gone down 10-0 to ECU, we would have won that game too.

Well, it's a learning experience.

Coach has learned how us "other half" live. And it ain't so good all the time.

It has been a rather radical adjustment for him no doubt and what many of us call "mistakes" are for him WTF moments where he is left wondering why we can't execute on stuff that would be simple business at a program like the Arkansas...

While he adjusts his sights we need to get over ourselves.

I think this coach actually can move us places. If you whining a-holes drag him down to our level he'll never have an opportunity to pull us up to his.

I have seen nothing other than freshman coach mistakes to suggest that we don't have the right man for the program.

I have seen plenty to suggest that we need a new QB however...

In order to be the "right man" for the program, he has to be able to admit his mistakes, and rectify them. So far, he has not shown that ability. Even good qb's get pulled when they are doing poorly. But not AB. Coach McGee is good at PR, but he has yet to show he is good at being head coach.

What is up with AB? Not so much AB but McGees use/overuse/misuse of him? Seriously?

Here's my theory.
First, McGee doesn't want to undermine himself by making a change.
Next, who's he gonna change to? Perry, you say? Idk what the reasons are but apparently they are strong enough to hold him out through all this, so thats that. After him, who? Bento? I like the kid but we all know that won't win games. Burn Greers redshirt? I guess not.
I guess there is no other option. At least not in McGees mind.
I just don't get how it got to here though. And AB is paying the price. He is hurt. Bad. Not thx ankle or the ribs or knee. All that and more. Ask around.
McGee better learn how to self correct and lose the arrogant attitude. That worked before his team took the field but now it's time to produce.

I gotta be honest, I am very discouraged right now. Not just from what I see on the field but some of the behind the scenes stuff too.

I hope like hell we see something different next week and next year.

I'm not sure if it is a way for McGee to make room for another QB, by treating JP that way & hoping he leaves, or not.

If that is the case, then Bento could have finished out the game against Memphis.

As much as it sucks for those of us who knows that JP can produce, it still is ultimately the HC's call. He has been given 3 to 4 years to run things his way.

-------------------------------

“He has an injury that was bothering him today”

Coach knows that AB is hurt – but refuses to play any other QB – weird. You can only assume that AB is his future QB and he wants him to gain as much experience as possible. Otherwise, stubborn or not he would but Bento in (because we know JP doesn’t stand a chance).

I saw JP warming up early in the 4th quarter and it looked like he was going in but never did.

Anyway, according to some players AB’s injuries are worse than just an ankle. He evidently sustained an abdominal and hip injury in the Tulane game that may require surgery. It clearly is affecting his mobility, accuracy and…

It looks as though it hurts for him to walk, geez.

It would be good for the team, IMO, if McGee were to turn things over to JP for the UCF game.

The players respect him as well as AB & would respond to him.

We need to do everything we can to end on a positive note.

This past weekend really really sucked.

At this point in our season? Use all of the playbook. It's not just about Austin Brown but about all the young guys on our offense who will be returning next year.

I'm sorry, isn't McGee the coach that tabbed JP as our starter to begin the season? With all the time we had to remark that something was "off" with JP and that McGee could drop hints about somebody needing to learn the playbook, he gave JP every shot to master the system on the field and then named AB the starter. Odd behavior for a guy "predetermined that he is correct & reluctant to prove otherwise".

We all know that AB won the starting position over JP by his performance.

Right now, AB cannot walk & another QB needs to be put in.

I believe JP is that guy, however McGee seems reluctant to do so because he has put all of his apples in the AB barrel.

When a player is severely limited on the field, sometimes it is best to put someone else in.

Not sure the players respect Perry near as much as AB. It makes me 03-puke every time I look at the bench and Perry is sitting on his butt with a towel on his head pouting. He is not a true leader like AB. If AB was benched, I am 100% sure he would have the head phones on calling in the plays like the other QBs. I don't even think coach can trust Perry to do that. I might be very misguided on this. Its just by opinion.
